Important Information

Monday, March 11th will be an A day.

8th-grade students will take Maryland Integrated Science Assessments (MISA) Monday through Thursday during 1st and 2nd periods this week. Please ensure students come to school on time with their laptops fully charged! Students will also have to put all phones, earbuds, and smartwatches in their bookbags during the assessment so that we do not have any violations.

Attention parents of 6th grade students: All students entering 7th grade must have documentation of having received a Tdap and a Meningitis (MCV) vaccine before the first day of school. We wanted to make you aware that the St. Mary's County Health Department will be holding an optional immunization clinic for 6th graders at Esperanza Middle School on Monday, April 15th. If your student has not already received these vaccines or the nurses do not have documentation of receiving these vaccines, you will be receiving an email from the nurse(s) with the registration link.

A message for LHS Rising Freshman - Thank you to everyone who stopped by the "Raider Store" during our Rising Freshman Event this past Tuesday. If you couldn't make it, no worries, there is still time to purchase some of our Raider Gear! Visit the LHS STORE for all our looks and sizes. The store will close this Sunday March 10th @ 11:59pm. Items will be shipped to LHS or you can choose to have them delivered to your home for a fee. Go Raiders!!

8th Grade Parents -

SMCPS students can sign up for the following Summer Courses for original credit: Health 2, Foundations of Computer Science, Geometry, Spanish 1, and Spanish 2. This FLYER includes all of the details on how to register and course dates and times. Any questions can be directed to Heather Wysokinski at hmwysokinski@smcps.org.

Summer Sports Academies

SMCPS and SMC R&P have partnered to offer the new Summer Sports Academies. Campers will be instructed by area high school coaches. Camps are held Monday -Thursday. Click below for more information. Registration begins March 1st. Don't miss this opportunity.

Friday, March 22nd, will be a B DAY and an asynchronous two-hour early early dismissal virtual day. Teachers will share what students should work on during this asynchronous virtual day, along with creating a Schoology folder specifically for this day starting on Monday, March 18th.

Event Information

7th Grade Dance

This dance will take place right after school for 7th-grade students ONLY; students must be picked up at 4:00 p.m. Parents will not need to come inside to pick up students. Students will be released to the parking lot at 4:00 p.m. to go home. The permission slip to attend the dance will be in the April 7th SMORE and available in the cafeteria starting Monday, April 8th. The cost to attend the dance is $5.00. Students must have their $5.00 and signed permission slip during homeroom on Friday, April 12th, to get their dance wristband. No dance wristbands will be sold after homeroom, and no students can call home to get permission to attend the dance.
