Officer Eaves: Peak Performer!
TCMS's Officer Eaves was last week's FCPS Peak Performer! Here's what Police Chief Martin Schafer wrote about our teammate:
Officer Eaves passionately serves the students, staff, and families at TCMS. Whenever TCMS requests an officer to work an event, the school demands that it be Officer Eaves and not anyone else. Whether by telling jokes to students, singing songs with them, or making TikToks, he is a favorite of everyone in the building. Recently, Officer. Eaves came to Tates Creek High School to assist with a severe weather drill. He was approached by dozens of former TCMS students who saw him and had to run over to get a fist-bump, a hug, or a high five. Impressively, he could call each one by their first name as they came to greet him. But it is not just his ability to make an impact with relationships that makes him worthy of recognition. Officer. Eaves is highly effective in balancing enforcement with education and building rapport, as he is usually at or near the top of the agency for incident-related activity.
Officer Eaves' commitment to this department is outstanding. Thank you, Officer Eaves!
Victor Gong Heads to Nationals!
Congratulations to Victor! A couple of weeks ago, he signed himself up for the district Math Counts competition and earned a spot at State. This weekend, he placed third in Kentucky, earning a 4-year tuition scholarship to the University of Louisville! Furthermore, he now moves on to the national competition in Washington, D.C., in May!
BRAYLON STRONG: Player of the Year!
Congratulations to Braylon Strong, Fayette County Middle School Boys Basketball Player of the Year! Braylon leads the All-City Team with 73 points this season. He, along with honorable mention teammates Shukuru Mwenda and Marques Simpson, will be recognized at the City Tournament game on March 12 at Bryan Station High School. We are so proud of our student athletes!
Havi Sheth Wins Regional Science Fair!
Please help us congratulate Havi Sheth, whose Science Fair Project, Mr. Forgetful, took first place in Behavioral and Social Sciences at the Central Kentucky Regional Science and Engineering Fair this Saturday! Havi will compete in the state fair at the end of March.
TCMS Represents at Windfest
TCMS Symphonic Band was the only middle school ensemble featured at the University of Kentucky Windfest at Singletary Center this weekend! Congratulations to Mr. Reams, Ms. Gentry and all our 7th and 8th grade Symphonic Band students!
TUESDAY: PSAT
All 7th and 8th-grade students will be taking the PSAT tomorrow, March 11. At the same time, 6th-grade students will be participating in a Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) practice test to prepare for the official assessment in May.
Why is TCMS Administering the PSAT?
TCMS is taking part in a three-year grant from Advance Kentucky’s Access to Algebra program, which aims to prepare students for advanced mathematics courses in high school and beyond. As part of this initiative, students will take the PSAT to help assess their academic progress and readiness for higher-level coursework.
What is the PSAT?
The Preliminary SAT (PSAT) is a standardized test designed to help students prepare for future assessments like the SAT. While this test is not used for college admissions, it helps students become familiar with standardized testing, assess their strengths and areas for growth, and develop skills needed for high school and beyond.
What About 6th Grade Students?
While 7th and 8th-grade students are taking the PSAT, 6th-grade students will participate in a Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) practice test. Students will be divided into their testing groups and take part in a simulation designed to prepare them for the KSA assessment in May. This practice will help familiarize them with testing procedures and expectations.
