Upcoming Events and Information
Title I Fall Conferences
Every year, Crosswell Elementary has fall and spring conferences. Your child's teacher should be in contact very soon about scheduling a fall conference time with you. These conferences are very important as teachers will discuss your child's academic progress (grades, i-Ready data, etc.), behavioral progress so far, and any upcoming events this year. This is a great time for you to ask questions and discuss your child's needs. Please be on the look out for info about conferences!

Habit #1: Be Proactive
As we have learned, being proactive means being in charge of ourselves. It can be challenging to be proactive rather than reactive to people and situations. We all deal with stressful circumstances and, sometimes, those circumstances are outside of our circle of control. In order to NOT be reactive, it's important that we notice and think about our emotions before we react. Use the guides below to help your student or anyone practice the "Stop, Notice, and Think" Strategy.

The Reading Rope- Supporting Students with Reading at School and Home📘
The Reading Rope: Phonological Awareness at Home
Phonological Awareness is another important component of the "Reading Rope" for students to become strong, fluent readers. Phonological Awareness is the ability to recognize sounds and work with the sounds of spoken language. This is crucial for students to master in order to decode words. 80% of struggling readers have gaps in phonological awareness and decoding with only 15% struggling with comprehension. Good news! There are different ways to practice phonological awareness at home:
- rhyming (What word rhymes with...?)
- tongue twisters
- count the syllables in a word
- identifying the beginning sound of a word
School and Community Engagement Calendar
Each month, we will post a calendar with events that are happening at Crosswell as well as around the community. These events will be both educational but, also, events for you to spend quality time as a family. Please see the following calendar below to stay up to date!
Cub Tales at CWE!

The Basics are 5 fun, simple, and powerful ways that every parent and caregiver can give every child a great start in life! These basics are simple and for everyone and are based on decades of research! Join us for Cub Tales!
