December 2024 Newsletter
Dear LMS Families,
As we move into December, the holiday season is upon us, bringing with it a time of celebration, reflection, and spending quality time with family and friends. It’s a busy but exciting time of year, and here at Linden Middle School, we are focused on finishing 2024 strong. As we wrap up the year, let’s continue to support each other, stay motivated, and make the most of these final weeks before the winter break. LMS students continue to show growth and maturity in the classrooms and hallways every week, but it is an easy time to lose focus. Please continue to reinforce the importance of finishing strong before the holiday break.
We wish you all a joyful and restful season ahead!

Assistant Principal News
Hello LMS Families,
Just a friendly reminder that Winter Season #2 for LMS Athletics is quickly approaching. Below are the start dates.
Girls Competitive Cheer Try-outs - December 18-20th
Boys Basketball Try-Outs - January 6th
Make sure your students are registered on FinalForms to receive important information from the coaches.
I also want to take a brief moment and explain our hall sweep procedures that we have consistently done this school year to help promote our students getting to class on time. Frequently, yet randomly, we conduct a hall sweep. These consist of gathering all of the students in the hallway after the bell and assigning them a lunch detention along with communication to parents regarding being tardy to class. Sometimes we do a hall sweep and we will have less than 5 students in the hall when the bell rings, which is the goal. Sometimes we conduct a hall sweep and will have 15-20 students in the hall. These are the types of behaviors we are trying to avoid as it is a huge distraction when students arrive late to class. Please continue to have conversations with your children about behaving appropriately and representing themselves well.
Please take some time this holiday season and reflect on the positives around you. We live in a very supportive community and even in times of struggle, it doesn't take much to find the good in others. Happy Holidays to all!

Counselors' Corner
In November, we celebrated World Kindness Day! Our students participated in various activities that promoted kindness around our school. We are proud of their efforts to spread joy and positivity. Thank you for encouraging your children to embrace and practice kindness every day!
As we enter the holiday season, we want to emphasize the importance of kindness and generosity. Here are a few ways you can help your children find ways to give back:
- Volunteer Together: Participate in local food drives or shelters.
- Create Care Packages: Assemble packages for those in need in your community.
- Random Acts of Kindness: Encourage your child to perform small acts of kindness, such as writing thank-you notes or helping a neighbor.
The Science of Kindness: Research shows that acts of kindness can boost happiness and reduce stress. Teaching our children to be kind not only helps others but also enhances their own well-being.
We are grateful for your ongoing support in fostering an environment of kindness, generosity, and positivity at home and in our school. Wishing you well this holiday season!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Gambrel (A-K Counselor) & Tiffany Roehrig (L-Z Counselor)
Vision Screening for 7th grade students
On December 16th and 17th, the Genesee County Health Department will be at LMS conducting vision screenings for all 7th grade students. If you would like to opt your child out of the screening please have your child bring a note on the day of the screening that states that you do not wish to have your child participate. If you have questions, please reach out to the LMS main office at 591-0710.
