LNPD Weekly Newsletter
AISD Learn 'N Playday Preschool Updates for Week of 12/16
LNPD Weekly Updates:
Such a fun and busy week at LNPD! We had our 2 days of Winter parties where the kids decorated cookies, played games, and had a book exchange. We also celebrated Mrs. Cynthia's birthday with her class. Their room has been transformed into a winter wonderland since BLUE is her favorite color! Thank you for those of you that were able to contribute to our parties. We truly appreciate the generosity of everyone and making the party days fun and exciting for the kids!
Mrs. Jacy added some fun Winter songs to her website, so if you are looking for some music and movement over the break, visit her webpage and have some fun dancing and singing!

Thank you to everyone for sending in PJ's for our Pajama drive and helping to supply PJ's for kids that are in need. We were able to collect 130 PJ's to donate to a local charity and then Scholastic books will match each pair of PJ's with a new book. It's such a great organization to partner with to help children sleep better at night! And....even though we didn't hit our goal, I still want our LNPD kids to get their PJ day, since we are still providing jammies to 130 kids in our community. That to me is worth celebrating!!🎉
Over the break, remember to change out your child's extra change of clothes to weather appropriate ones. The temperatures are typically cooler, so pants, a long sleeved shirt and at least 2-3 pairs of underwear are good to have in their bag, along with extra shoes. Make sure everything sent to school is labeled, so your child goes home with their own items. 🙂
Our LNPD/AISD Winter Break is from 12/21-1/6. Our T/Th and M-F students come back on 1/7 and our MWF kids on 1/8.
Weekly classroom images and party photos are found in the gallery below and on your teacher's websites. https://www.allenisd.org/o/aisd/page/learn-n-playday
Classroom Themes
3's classes with Mrs. Angie and Mrs. Stephanie were learning all about WINTER this week. There was hot cocoa and scoops in the sensory table, ice fishing with ice in the water table, and lots of writing of Ss words and winter words like snow, sled and, stocking. The centers had matching mittens and winter socks, along with building a Ginger bread house with Magna Tiles and a wooden set too. Kids got to put the correct number of buttons on various snowmen and matched letters to a snowman's belly with upper and lower case letters.
Mrs. Dede and Mrs. Yolanda's class focused on FIVE SENSES this week. The kids had activities that had Velcro and a mystery feely box for touch, scented puzzles for smell, matching and patterning for sight, and they decorated cookies at art to taste and eat at their party. The kids all got to hear the different sounds of jingle bells and laughter in the classroom, along with the crinkling of wrapping paper from their book exchange. They also played games like trouble and 4 across to hear the pop of the dice and the flick of the coin.
Mrs. Celesa and Mrs. Cynthia's class had a LET IT SNOW theme this week. There were a few Frozen castles in the classroom, ice with penguins and slides at the water table, igloo, dogs and dog sleds with polar bears in the sensory table and the BIG Ginger Bread house in home living. In other centers they had writing of winter words with Magna Doodles...snowman, coat, and mittens. They had a winter puzzle, patterning, and a fun Christmas cookie set and a candy construction building set too.

We would love to have them in our program for next school year!

Illness Reminders:
If sick, your child must be:
1. fever free 24 hours
2. vomit free 24 hours
3. diarrhea free for 24 hours, all before sending them back to school
They also need to be medicine free at school. Giving Tylenol or other fever reducing medicines in the morning can upset their stomachs and also lead to fevers and vomiting later in the day or children falling asleep.
We have had a lot of runny noses and coughing at LNPD and a few kids have had strep and flu. Please be on the lookout for any of these things and keep your children home if they are within that 24 hours of being contagious.
Recess Information
If it is 90-99 actual temperature or heat index, we have a shortened recess time of 10 minutes
It is 100 or above actual temperature or heat index it is INDOOR recess only
35 or below actual or wind child, INDOOR recess only
36-40 degrees its shortened recess and all students must have appropriate jacket and clothing
Air Quality alerts are also shortened recess 10-15 minutesPotty Reminders
Please make sure you have your child use the restroom before leaving your houses in the mornings. Also, please remind your children to tell the teachers when they need to go potty. Some of the accidents we are experiencing is because our students either wait too long to tell someone or they do not inform the teachers that they need to go. (Every LNPD class goes as a class at least 3-4 times per day)
Please have a full change of clothes in your child's backpack. Socks and shoes included and more than one pair of underwear and pants or shorts are always helpful too. Please also make sure your children's clothing items are labeled.
Ongoing 24-25 LNPD Registration....still have 4's openings!
Other Important Information
- Field trips and LNPD activities have begun. All parents must complete a background check prior to participating in any of these activities. This process may take up to two weeks to complete. I have included the link for easy access if you are interested in volunteering. https://www.allenisd.org/page/register-volunteer
- We are not using water fountains this year, so a water bottle is definitely needed. We have a touch free, filtered water bottle station in the LNPD hallway, so we can refill their bottles too.
Make sure to visit our LNPD website to view our monthly calendar and newsletter, find your weekly classroom news and pictures, music songs, links to Eleyo. www.allenisd.org/learnnplayday (4 year old's need to turn in their hearing and vision forms by Dec. 22nd)
- Visit our Allen ISD home page to find the latest information on the district. https://www.allenisd.org
- If you think your child needs to be assessed for any special services, such as speech, autism, hearing or vision impaired, cognitive, social or emotional development, etc..., please reach out to our Allen ISD Special Services department and then go to Child Find. Here is their direct link to get you started: https://www.allenisd.org/o/aisd/page/child-find
