Each February, we honor and recognize the pivotal role that Career & Technical Education (CTE) plays in preparing our students for success. The following highlights showcase memorable moments from February.
CTE Teacher Night
CTE Teacher Night was a resounding success, bringing together our dedicated educators for a night of professional development and celebration. The evening kicked off with engaging professional development sessions, providing teachers with valuable insights and tools to enhance their teaching practices.
One of the highlights of the evening was our inaugural Sweet Treat Showdown, where culinary programs showcased their baking skills and creativity. From delectable cakes to mouth-watering cookies, the competition was fierce! The Emmett J. Conrad Culinary Arts program, led by Chef Harris, emerged as this year's winner!
In addition to the Sweet Treat Showdown, we were proud to recognize and honor our teachers with career cluster awards. Submitted by campus leadership, these awards recognize the hard work, dedication, and innovation of our teachers in advancing CTE education and preparing our students for success.

STEM Expo: Construction Showcase
Under Mr. Douglas Palmer's leadership, students in the Architecture & Construction Pathway at Skyline High School created an impressive CTE display, showcasing their skills in merging STEM and construction:

"Create Success" Video Series
The CTE Department premiered a new video series showcasing the impact of CTE. The first video features CTE teachers discussing how they foster success.

CTE Month: Guest Speakers
Celebrating the accomplishments of our student-led broadcasts, we applaud the exceptional work of two standout programs:
The Voice of Townview - KSBM Radio: Under the direction of Rochelle Shipman, the radio station welcomed Dallas ISD Superintendent Dr. Elizalde. She shared her educational journey and vision for the district in a program titled 'Echoes of Excellence.'
Tomorrow's Workforce Academy
CTE and NAF, along with Dallas ISD P-TECH and Workforce Development teams, hosted the annual TWA event.This initiative aims to enhance all aspects of internships for Dallas ISD students, ensuring high-quality experiences. The workshop provides industry representatives with insights into internship intricacies, contributing to the continual improvement of the Dallas ISD internship program. Skyline Culinary Success
Congratulations to the Skyline Culinary Arts program and its students for their outstanding achievements! They placed 2nd in the Food in Fashion Competition, hosted by the Texas Restaurant Association, and emerged victorious in the Black History Cooking Competition, hosted by the Cochran Law Firm. Instructor Jason Blackwell commended the Skyline Culinary "Queens of Fire" for their exceptional performance, stating, "They showed up and showed out." Keep up the fantastic work!
Accounting Career Exploration Event
The accounting careers exploration event at Conrad High School featured professionals from MG Stover, KPMG, SMU, and others, who shared insights into the exciting potential of a career in accounting. Hosted by the Center for Audit Quality, EVERFI, and the Texas Society of CPAs, the event also awarded a $5,000 scholarship to aid in a student's academic pursuits.

National Center for Women in Technology - Educator Award
Congratulations to Robert Burton for being recognized with the Aspirations in Computing (AiC) Educator Award! This award acknowledges educators who have shown a commitment to encouraging the computing interests of students, regardless of gender identity. Mr. Burton was selected by the local affiliate selection committee for his dedication to gender equity in computing education. Congratulations are in order for Robert Burton!
Townview's School of Business and Management Exciting Esports Arena Journey!
Phase 1 is now complete! Mr. Olson's Video Game Design students have shown remarkable dedication and skill in transforming their room into a state-of-the-art gaming space.
Throughout this phase, students meticulously set up each piece of equipment, disassembled and reassembled desks, and wired all lighting fixtures. The transformation is truly impressive.
As Mr. Olson and his students look ahead, they are incredibly excited about the future of their Esports program. Enhancing the curriculum, Esports offers students unique learning opportunities. In addition, students will host their own events, showcasing their talent and passion in the world of Esports.
School of Business and Management at Townview: Success at BPA Conference
The Marvin E. Robinson School of Business and Management competed in the BPA Area 1 Region 2 Leadership Development Conference with full member participation. Forty students earned State Qualifier designation, and twelve students earned State Alternate designation. Congratulations on this impressive achievement, and good luck as you continue to excel in your future endeavors!
H. Grady Spruce FBLA Students Shine at Regional Competitions
We are thrilled to announce the outstanding achievements of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students at the recent Regional Competitions at Mt. Pleasant ESC 8. Please join us in congratulating:
- Bre'nay Howard and Ashley Davis for winning 1st place in the Business Plan competition.
- Adamaris Moreno for achieving 1st place in Data Analysis.
- Alejandro Rangel (New Member) for securing 2nd place in Economics.

Bryan Adams FBLA Impresses at First Competition, Qualifies for State
All of the students qualified for the FBLA State Competition in Galveston, Texas, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

Townview's School of Health Professions shine at HOSA Competition in Prosper

School of Business Management at Townview Excels at DECA District 11 Conference
The Marvin E. Robinson School of Business and Management had their talents on full display at the DECA District 11 Conference. A total of thirty-five students participated in the event, with seventeen students earning State Qualifier designation.
Woodrow Wilson's Dronelution360 Wins Excellence Award in Texas Drone Competition
The Woodrow High School Drone team, Dronelution360, continued its winning streak by dominating the Texas - Region 2 Aerial Drone Competition on February 24, 2024. Out of 30 competitive teams, Dronelution360 emerged victorious once again, claiming the prestigious Excellence Award. The team showcased remarkable scores of 365 in piloting skills and 95 in autonomous flight, completing an entire course with precision and skill.
This stellar performance comes after their impressive debut last month, where they secured the #2 spot in the Global Skills Standing. As they prepare for the Oklahoma Championship on April 19 to 20, Dronelution360 remains a beacon of excellence and inspiration, highlighting the extraordinary talent within Woodrow Wilson High School.

The district is exploring strategies to enhance our focus on completing the work we have started. As part of this effort, Dallas ISD will now refer to College, Career & Military Readiness as College, Career & Military Complete (CCMC).
As we strive to ensure our students achieve College, Career, and Military Complete status, we're proud to share that 1,394 seniors have already met a CCMC point by attaining their industry-based certification. We look forward to seeing this number increase in the coming months.
A friendly reminder, the deadline for certification attempts is approaching: the first attempt should be completed by April 1st and the second attempt by May 1st. Keep up the great work, and best of luck to all students!
2023 - 24 Budget
The deadline for reaching our budget goal of 75% spent was at the first week of March. By now, you should have spent 75% of your budget. If you need assistance, please contact your Program Coordinator.
Consider investing your remaining funds in classroom necessities like professional development resources, classroom supplies, technology upgrades, and program promotional materials.
