Math
Standards
- Represent whole numbers as lengths from 0 on a number line with equally spaced points and represent whole-number sums and differences, within 20 on a number line.
- Demonstrate fluency with addition and subtraction, within 20, using mental strategies.
- Determine whether a group of objects, within 20, has an odd or even number of members by pairing objects, counting them by 2's, or determining whether objects can be placed into two equal groups.
Students will understand that...
1. Numbers can be represented on a number line.
2. Mental strategies can be used to fluently add and subtract within 20.
3. I can group objects to tell if a number is odd or even.
English Language
Standard
- Participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about grade 2 topics and texts with peers and adults in small ad large groups.
- Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
- Recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.
- Identify the main purpose of a text, including what the author wants to answer, explain, or describe.
Students will understand that...
1. I can listen with care when I participate in conversations with my classmates.
2. I can draw and write what I already know about school
3. I can ask and answer questions about what school is and why it is important using key details from "What Does School Mean to You?"

Reminders
Personal Student Devices + Smart Watches
Student are not allowed to bring personal laptop devices to school. If they bring a phone, it must be kept in their backpacks and turned on silten at all times. Smart watches may be worn but need to be in airplane mode. They may not be used to play games, make phone calls and/or take pictures on campus.
