Cedar Hill Football Opens District 6A-11 Competition with 34-15 Win Over Skyline
Cedar Hill High School senior quarterback Tamarion Crochett enjoyed his best performance of the season on a night where the Longhorns celebrated several occasions.
It was Senior Night and the home opener, but most importantly, the Longhorns (2-2) are 1-0 in District 6A-11 after a 34-15 victory over Dallas Skyline.
Crochett finished with 318 yards of total offense (including 289 passing yards and three touchdowns) against the Raiders. He doubled his season total to six touchdown passes.
"He has a lot of potential, and we expect him to get better each week," Cedar Hill head football coach Nick Ward said of Crochett.
Here's a photo gallery of the Longhorns' victory.
The Longhorns amassed 509 yards of total offense in the victory.
"Red Oak and Allen played well against us, but we beat ourselves," Ward said. "Going into the Skyline game, our goal was to play fast and not beat ourselves. Once we got into our rhythm, we were able to take over."
Juelz Carter finished with three carries for 66 yards and a touchdown, while Dayshun Reese-Williams rushed nine times for 55 yards and a score.
Both Keylon Davis (five catches for 129 yards) and Cedric Mills (seven catches for 110 yards) had 100+ yard games. It was the first 100+ yard game of the season for both receivers. Davis now has 246 yards and two touchdowns through four games. Mills has 17 receptions for 205 yards and three touchdowns.
Cedar Hill is now 3-0 vs. Skyline since the Raiders joined the district in 2022.
The Coleman Triplets, who have committed to The University of Texas at Austin played an important role in the victory. The Dallas Morning News featured the Coleman Triplets last week.
The Longhorns will visit Lancaster next Friday. Despite being 1-3, the Tigers are one of the top teams in the Metroplex. Lancaster defeated Mesquite Horn, 48-19, on Friday to open District 6A-11 Competition.
"Our Offensive and Defensive lines will have to play well for us to win," Ward said.

Meet The Tigers
Lancaster, which moved up from Class 5A this season, might be the best 1-3 team in Texas.
The Tigers finished 8-6 last season after a 1-4 start to reach the fourth round of the playoffs.
They opened the 2024 season with a 29-21 loss to powerhouse North Crowley at The Star in Frisco and followed that up with a 37-27 loss at defending 5A-II State Champion, Aledo.
After a 34-33 loss to Lewisville Hebron, they earned a win over Mesquite Horn in their District 6A-11 Opener.
In the Horn game, Lancaster's Izayah Lee rushed for 147 yards and five touchdowns, and teammate Caheil Williams added a touchdown.
Lancaster senior quarterback Carter Jones played at Cedar Hill as a freshman in 2021.
CHEF Star Of The Show: CHHS Cheerleader Jaiden Harp Kapaou
Cedar Hill High School senior cheerleader Jaiden Harp Kapaou is a star, on and off the field.
Kapaou is the Cedar Hill ISD Education Foundation (CHEF) Star Of The Show.
“I’ve been cheering for the team since freshman year,” Kapaou said. “The best part about being on the team is having fun every gameday and trying new things with my team.”
Kapaou said she’s learned a great deal from Cedar Hill Cheer Coach Melissa Douglas.
“She’s taught me that every battle can’t be won and that sometimes it’s not about you as an individual, it’s about what every individual came come together and do as a team,” Kapaou said.
In addition to Cheer, Kapaou serves on the Cedar Hill High School Student Council where she’s the parliamentarian.
“My mother taught me to treat everyone with respect and dignity because I wanted to be treated the same way,” Kapaou said.
Kapaou’s long time goal is to become a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent after graduating from college.
CHEF Scholar Athlete: CHHS Football Player Rodrick Harper
Cedar Hill High School Football Player Rodrick Harper was recognized as the Cedar Hill ISD Education Foundation Scholar Athlete of the Game before Friday's home opener vs. Dallas Skyline.
DAPPS First Responder Appreciation: CHISD Security Lieutenant Jimmy Hogg
Cedar Hill ISD Lieutenant Jimmy Hogg has worked in security for Cedar Hill Independent School District since before the district started a police department.
Hogg arrived at Cedar Hill High School in 2003, and the following year, CHISD started its own police department.
Hogg, the Dallas Area Patrol Area Protection Services (DAPPS) First Responder Appreciation honoree, now oversees a staff of 11 security guards and works closely with Cedar Hill ISD Police Chief James Hawthorne and Lieutenant Carlos Below.
For 18 of the past 23 years, Hogg has worked as the department’s lead security officer.
“I’m working on plans every day,” Hogg said. “I’m a man of action, not words. I just believe in taking care of business – keeping the kids and the staff safe.”
The Dallas native joined Cedar Hill ISD after working in the automotive industry for two decades. A father of three CHISD graduates, Hogg was approached about joining the district after coaching youth sports in the community.
He’s worked under three police chiefs and recently, Hogg watched the department grow significantly, thanks to the passage of the 2023 Voter Approved Tax Rate Election (VATRE).
“It’s a plus to watch the department grow,” Hogg said. “We needed more officers a long time ago. We didn’t have another choice but to get more officers here.”
Hogg briefly considered retirement but then realized, it’s a “calling from the Lord to continue helping the kids.”
