2018-2019 Orlando Science Science Fair Recap
This past Thursday our campuses held our 9th annual Science Fair. This science fair was unique in that it spanned the 4 campuses of Orlando Science. We had projects from K-12 at the Lynx gym showcasing what they have been working on during the first semester. It was an amazing accomplishment! We are very proud of everyone that was able to attend and all the projects that were worked on this year, even those that were not at the fair. All students did a phenomenal job! The winners of this year's School-Wide Science Fair can be found below the Science Fair recap video!
Those that are able to move on to regionals need to make sure their paperwork is completed, some may have had pre-approval forms in the fall, and that they filled out the registration forms and the media forms as well! Those forms can be found on the Ying expo site as well as through your science teacher. All forms, the registration forms as well as those from the fall are due to your teacher by Tuesday!
OSS Science Olympiad Team Places at Regionals
This past weekend our Middle/High Science Olympiad teams underwent one final invitational before this weekend’s Regionals. We went to Ohio and to MIT! In Ohio there were 54 teams, our school placed 11th! They had fun time and were able to see snow. Mr. Demir and Mr. Ulgut were able to have a competitive snowball fight! In New England, there were 76 teams, and we achieved the 25th ranking! A big thank you to Tina, OSHS Alumni '18, for guiding us across the campus. These were really difficult tests ranging with 180 short answer and multiple choice questions in 50 min. We are proud of all of our students, and cannot wait to see what they will accomplish this weekend.

FortifyFL app is now Available
OSS Families: See the important message below regarding FortifyFlorida.
We are pleased to announce that the FortifyFL app is LIVE. Now, any student, educator, parent or member of the public can report school safety concerns directly to law enforcement and school administrators anonymously and easily through the FortifyFL app or www.getfortifyfl.com. The Florida Legislature directed this tool’s development in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act.
The app, which is available for download on Apple and Android mobile devices, is critical to ensuring all Florida schools are safe environments where students and educators can experience and share the joy of learning without fear.
We hope that you will become familiar with this tool and help us spread the word about it with your students and their families. Please note that the official app’s logo will look exactly as it does in the graphic above.
Sincerely,
Pam Bondi and Pam Stewart
