Meadowbrook Elementary steps up with successful sock drive
This year, Meadowbrook Elementary’s student council, comprised of 12 dedicated members, selected a sock drive as their annual service project. The council designed colorful flyers and visited classrooms to share information about the initiative. Teachers tracked the number of socks donated by their students, with the promise of a pizza party for the class that contributed the most.
The Meadowbrook community rallied together, donating an incredible 900 pairs of new socks in various sizes for men, women and children. Before the holiday break, the socks were displayed beneath the school’s holiday tree, creating a heartwarming display of generosity.
After reaching out to local food pantries and shelters, the socks were donated to the Crossroads Urban Center in Salt Lake City. The center, which supports individuals experiencing homelessness and families in need, expressed sincere gratitude for the thoughtful donation.

Viewmont High's Vikings Give Shopping Day brings holiday cheer
Viewmont High School hosted one of the most heartwarming events of the season — Vikings Give Shopping Day. With over 175 student volunteers participating, the event was filled with excitement, generosity and holiday spirit as students worked together to provide a special Christmas for 275 children from the Grandfamilies organization.
Thanks to the incredible support from Centerville Walmart, which opened its doors early at 5:00 a.m. just for these volunteers, Viewmont students had the entire store to themselves. They carefully selected gifts to fulfill the wish lists of the children they were paired with, from toys and clothing to essential items that would bring joy to the children this holiday season.
Vikings Give raised over an impressive $58,000, and the shopping day marked a pivotal moment in the campaign. In addition to the gifts, Vikings Give is ensuring that 118 families received Christmas dinners, gas and grocery cards. Over 100 Viewmont students in need are being supported, and the Valhalla Student Teen Center has also benefited from the initiative.
Davis Connect SBOs Support Northridge High’s Teen Center
The Davis Connect Student Body Officers recently turned gratitude into action with a fundraiser to collect pantry donations for Northridge High School’s Teen Center.
While their building is under construction, the officers have been using Northridge High School's space to film their biweekly announcement videos. In a heartfelt gesture of thanks, and to make a difference for teens in need, they incorporated a donation drive into their Fall Festival.
Despite having a smaller student population, the Davis Connect officers rallied their community and successfully collected two wagons full of much-needed items for the Northridge pantry.
Warming Hearts: Woods Cross Elementary’s Hope Squad blanket drive
For the past two years, Woods Cross Elementary’s Hope Squad has embraced the spirit of giving with their annual blanket drive, offering warmth and comfort to families in need. This heartfelt service project runs from Thanksgiving break to Christmas break, giving students and families several weeks to donate new blankets for the cause.
Thanks to the generosity of the school community, the Hope Squad has collected over 200 blankets each year. These donations are carefully sorted, counted and prepared by Hope Squad members, who work diligently to ensure the blankets are ready to send home with students in time for the holidays.
The blanket drive has become a cherished tradition, reminding everyone that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Fairfield Junior High’s Clash of Cash Event raises funds for Safe Harbor

The event raised an impressive amount of money, culminating in a $1,500 check being delivered to Safe Harbor to support families in need within the local community.
Throughout the event, students rallied behind their teachers, who signed up for various fun challenges that they would take on if enough funds were raised. From silly stunts to fun activities, the event was a true display of school spirit and teamwork.
The administration joined in on the fun as well, dressing up as Cindy Lou, Max and the Grinch. They even joined the dance club for a lively performance during an assembly, much to the delight of students and staff alike.
Cook Elementary shares warmth with socks and soup drive
Cook Elementary recently completed its heartfelt "Socks and Soup" service project, bringing holiday cheer to local families in need. The school community came together to collect approximately 150 pairs of new socks and 300 cans of soup during the holiday season.
Students and staff added a festive touch to the drive by using the donated socks to decorate the holiday tree in the office, while the cans of soup were carefully placed under and around the tree. These thoughtful contributions were then distributed to those in need. The socks were donated to the Safe Harbor Crisis Center in Kaysville, providing warmth and comfort to individuals in crisis. The soup was shared between the Blessing Boxes in Syracuse and Roy, offering nourishment to families in need.
Oak Hills Elementary's clothing and costume drive brings community together
The Oak Hills family recently rallied together for a clothing and costume drive that exceeded all expectations. With the support of the PTA, who diligently sorted the donations, and the energetic efforts of the student council to promote the event, the drive turned into a resounding success, collecting over 20 bags of clothing.
Generous contributions from the Oak Hills community included some items that were brand new, still with tags.
"As a family advocate at Oak Hills, I had the privilege of directly helping four families with clothing from the drive," said Amber Taylor.
The remaining items were then shared with Meadowbrook and Bountiful Elementary schools, where they will benefit students in need.
The most remarkable part of this effort is the collaborative network among family advocates across the district. When one school identifies a clothing need, advocates can reach out to each other to distribute resources effectively.

The evening featured stunning performances by the orchestra, choir, and band, as well as an impressive art show showcasing the talents of Legacy's art students. This event is part of a friendly competition between Legacy and Shoreline Junior High Schools to see who can raise the most support for this important cause. Legacy began their efforts in December, while Shoreline will host their fundraiser in January.
Final totals will be tallied after Shoreline’s fundraiser, and the winning school will earn well-deserved bragging rights.
