Message from Principal Adam Mitchell
Throughout the year, we have urged students and families to pay close attention to their attendance rates. Research and data has shown that attending school is the easiest way to increase a student's success at school. With Trimester 2 having concluded and enough time having passed to process our attendance and grade data, I'd like to share the dramatic results that continue to support the need for students to be present at school every day.
At Sherwood High School, there is a very direct correlation between a students attendance rate, their cumulative grade point average, and the number of F's in Trimester 2. (The same information is shown below in graph form.)
- Students with 90% or higher attendance rate = 3.39 cumulative GPA and averaged 0.07 F's in Trimester 2.
- Students with 80-89% attendance rate = 3.09 cumulative GPA and averaged 0.19 F's in Trimester 2.
- Students with 70-79% attendance rate = 2.50 cumulative GPA and averaged 0.57 F's in Trimester 2.
- Students with 60-69% attendance rate = 2.37 cumulative GPA and averaged 1.2 F's in Trimester 2.
- Students with 59% or lower attendance rate = 1.93 cumulative GPA and averaged 1.94 F's in Trimester 2.
Additionally, a deeper dive into the data shows that a student is a considered "Chronically Absent" (below a 90% attendance rate), is 7 times more likely to have received an F than a student who is classified as a "Regular Attender" (90%+ attendance rate)!!!
Have a great weekend and Go Bowmen!
Mr. Mitchell

Spring Emergency Drills
All Sherwood schools will be participating in our third and final round of emergency drills for this school year April 22-May 3. Each school will select either a "Secure" or a "Lockdown" drill for this final round. These drills are an essential part of our emergency preparedness, and help students and staff to practice specific actions that would occur in an emergency situation. Practice drills such as these are also an opportunity for our administrators and staff to collaborate with the Sherwood Police Department to continue improving our safety plans. You may notice increased police presence if you are on/near our campus during an emergency drill, as our SROs do participate in checking our building security during the drill.
During drills, staff and students are secured within the building. No one will be allowed to enter or exit the campus until the drill has been completed.
For more information on District emergency response protocols and communication, please visit the SSD website here.

New App for Student Transportation: My Ride K-12
This spring, the Ride 360 app that our district uses to provide families with student transportation information will be replaced by a new app called My Ride K-12. This new app can be downloaded now in the Apple and Android app stores at the links below.
The Ride360 app will be discontinued during the month of May. In order to continue receiving up-to-date information about your student's bus transportation, you will need to download the My Ride K-12 app as soon as possible.
Once you have downloaded the new My Ride K-12 app, you will use your existing Ride360 log-in credentials to access the new app. No further sign-up is needed - all of your student's information, including route, will automatically transfer over to the new app!
For questions or assistance with the new My Ride K-12 app, please contact our Transportation Department at 503-825-5900 or by email at transport@sherwood.k12.or.us
