Principal's Message
Dear Cavalier Families,
There is no school Monday to honor our country's Veterans. My Dad is a veteran, having served twenty years in the U.S. Navy. Growing up in a poor fishing village in the Philippines, the opportunity to join the U.S. Navy was a ticket out of a life of poverty for him. While in the Navy he was able to support not only our family but his family back in the Philippines as much as he could. I had a meager childhood but did not feel like I missed anything. My Dad was very proud when my sister and I graduated from college as a result of his hard work. My Dad is turning 80 in January. And while he is known for his wit, sense of humor and good nature, in his golden years he suffers from many physical ailments as a result of the being in the military as do many Veterans. I am grateful for his sacrifice every day. He is my personal hero. Please join me in thanking all of our Veterans for their service, especially Mr. Clark, Ms. Jazz, Mr. McCreesh, and the family members of our CVM community. - There is a field trip to the San Diego Asian Film Festival on Monday from 8:30 am to 2:00 pm for their "Youth Day" program. Ms. Bishop will be chaperoning. For the first time this year in honor of their 25th anniversay, school-age youth will be given free tickets to see films! Click on the button below to find out more! The Film Festival runs through this week.
- There is food distribution this Wednesday at 4:00 pm at the G Street gate until supplies last.
- On Thursday we will celebrate students who have reclassified as English Proficient in the library at 8:30 am. If you receive an invitation, I hope you can attend.
- After the recognition ceremony on Thursday, there will be an English Learner Advisory Committee meeting at 9:00.
- This Friday, the ASB is hosting a Fall Festival from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Food will be available for purchase, but games are free! Come have some fun!
- Rise Up Friday this week is with the English Department. Parents may be contacted from their student's English teacher to have a parent-teacher-student conference on Friday afternoon and/or have their student stay for an hour to receive extra assistance.
- The next Saturday School will be held on December 7.
Continuing announcements:
- All students and parents have the unique opportunity to receive individual and family therapy sessions at no cost through the Center of Mindful Relationships. If any student is interested in this, please fill out this form or scan the QR code on the flyer listed below.
- Parents can register their students for Club TC on the school website or through the QR code below. The Club TC office is in Room 215, close to the white G street gate. Those arriving early must enter through the gate. After school dismissal is also through the white G street gate. Once students exit the Auditorium gate at 3:10 pm they are not allowed to enter back for Club TC.

How to Check your Student's Attendance
Parents have the ability to check attendance at any time using the Parent Portal . If your student will need to miss school for more than five days, please call the office to arrange an independent study contract.
