ESD 159 Recognized for Communications Excellence By National Peers
The Illinois Chapter of the National School Public Relations Association (INSPRA) held its annual Communications Contest Awards Luncheon on September 22nd and recognized the top school communicators in the state. The competition was judged by pofessional school communicators from across the country.
Our school district, along with Director of Communication, Shelia Friday received an Award of Excellence in the video production category for our “ESD 159 New Playgrounds Ribbon Cutting,” video. We also received an Award of Merit in the newsletter category for our “Community Connection Newsletters. Two more Awards of Merit were received in the writing category for the published articles, “ESD 159 Welcomes Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Tiffany Brunson” and “ESD 159 Opens the First South Suburban Region STEM Center.”
“We are committed to telling our own story about our school district. Without the great things going on in our school district, I wouldn’t have great stories to share with our community. I am a part of a team of administrators, teachers, and staff who are dedicated to serving our scholars and their families. My service happens to be public relations, but we all are a part of the success story,” said Shelia Friday."
Superintendent Dr. Brunson stated, "We must be the authors of our own stories and remain committed to elevating and celebrating the greatness of our district. Our accomplishments in public relations are parts of the whole. I am appreciative of Mrs. Friday’s work and congratulate her on doing a great job."
We congratulate Superintendent Dr. Johnnie Thomas and Mr. Matthew Shank from Rich Township High School District 227 for being recognized for their communication efforts as well.
