Family Update 1/17/2025
Message from the Principal
Dear Sagebrush Families,
As we pause this upcoming week to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I am reminded of the profound impact his vision and courage have had on shaping our nation and our world. Dr. King’s message of equality, justice, and love continues to inspire us to build a community where every individual is valued and every voice is heard.
In our school, we strive to embody these principles each day. From learning about kindness and respect in the classroom to fostering inclusivity on the playground, we are helping our students understand the importance of treating others with dignity and compassion. Through lessons and activities this next week, our classes will be exploring Dr. King’s dream of a better world—one where people of all backgrounds work together in harmony.
I encourage all of us to take a moment with our children to reflect on how we can contribute to making Dr. King’s dream a reality. Whether through acts of kindness, service to others, or standing up for what is right, even small actions can make a big difference.
Let us celebrate this day not just as a day of remembrance but as a call to action—a reminder that we can all play a part in creating a more just and loving community.
Thank you for being such an integral part of our Sagebrush family. Together, we can inspire the next generation to continue Dr. King’s legacy.
Warm regards,
Chris Powell
Principal

CCIC 2.0 – Breaking Ground in the New Year
Thanks to our community's support of the 2024 bond and mill measures, the expansion of the Cherry Creek Innovation Campus (CCIC)( Cherry Creek Innovation Campus / Homepage ) is officially underway! The CCIC was recently recognized as one of the top 100 most impactful, innovative programs in the world and one of the top ten in the United States.
The expansion project will allow the program to serve 70% more 10-12th grade students from across the district. The CCIC will have new and expanded pathways in the 2025-26 school year, including:
• Aerospace Engineering
• Advanced Electronics
• Creative (Film, Production, Motion Design)
• Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)
• Veterinary Medicine
• Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC)
• Welding
• Baking and Pastries
• Expansion of Auto Mechanics and Manufacturing
In addition, the new facility will feature a 500-person events center which will be used to expand the Culinary and Hospitality pathways for hands-on learning opportunities for students.
The economic impact of the CCIC is estimated at $4.1 million annually, which includes the cost savings for students in certifications and college credits as well as grants and service to the community such as the tiny home project. Today’s groundbreaking is the first of many projects to get underway as part of the 2024 bond measure, including the rebuild of Holly Ridge and Holly Hills, Laredo Middle School, and Phase I of the Cherry Creek PK-12 Campus rebuild project.

Don't Forget Your Vaccines!
The holidays are here! Between cold weather and holiday gatherings, illnesses are more likely to spread. Please remember to stay up-to-date with your flu shot and COVID booster shot this holiday season. Learn more information about CCSD vaccine clinics.
Please apply for Free and Reduced Lunch
Even though all students in Colorado receive free lunch, we are asking families to fill out the free and reduced lunch application because it helps us maintain our Title I status. Title I is a Federal program that provides funding based on the number of students eligible for free and reduced-price lunch, and these funds support additional educational resources, programs, and services for students who need them most. By completing the form, even if you don't think you qualify, you ensure that our school continues to receive critical funding to support all students. Your participation makes a big difference in maintaining these important resources!
The application can be found at https://www.myschoolapps.com/ .
