Good News About CB West Students
Spreading Kindness
10th graders know how to spread kindness. The students in C106 advisory set up a jar for "be kind, leave change behind" so that the Court Street Cafe staff can randomly buy a cup of coffee or tea for a West student. Kindness matters!
MS City to Shore Bike, 2018
During the weekend of September 29-30th, sophomore Ava Williams , her dad John, the “Old Goat” team, and over 6,000 other riders biked over 150 miles in the MS City to Shore Bike event raising money for research to eradicate and cure Multiple Sclerosis. Her journey began early Saturday morning in Cherry Hill, NJ and finished in sunny Ocean City. She then rode another 75 miles back to Cherry Hill on Sunday. In total, she spent over 10 hours in the saddle during this amazing event.
Multiple Sclerosis is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body. Symptoms range from blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, paralysis, blindness and more. It is different for everyone affected by the disease, and that makes it all the more challenging to solve.
Bike MS is the largest fundraising bike series in the world which includes this year’s 38th anniversary of the City to Shore event that raised $4.3 million. It was Ava’s third year participating in this special event and to date she has raised over $3,000 to help find a cure. Way to go Ava!!!!! If you are interested in learning more about this disease and how you can help cure MS once and for all, visit www.NationalMsSociety.org. Maybe you will see Ava on the road next year?
