FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
He is risen! Alleluia! I want to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a very happy Easter, and I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying the conclusion of our April Break.
While the students have been away this week, we've had an opportunity to take care of a few different projects including the addition of some new blacktop games in our recess area (see photos below). Thank you for your support of the 2022 Walk-a-thon which made this project possible!
But the Walk-a-thon wasn't the only successful fundraiser this school year! Thank you to everyone who helped make our 2023 Sandsational Soiree School Auction a great success! We raised over $30,000 and, with this proceeds, have already purchased new desks and chairs for our 5th grade and 6th grade/middle school ELA classrooms. The desks will arrive in June and will be installed and ready for use at the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
Special thank you the Ss. John and Paul Beach Band, and a very special thank you to our Auction Committee including co-chairs Jen Marra and Ashley Sosa, Kathy Boiardi, Laurie Bloom, Debbie Moone, Kristen Fairbanks, and all the other volunteers who helped make the auction such a great success and wonderful community event. See you all at next year's auction!
Lastly, we're thrilled to continue to expand our extracurricular offerings here at Father Doyle. As many of you may know, the expansion of extracurricular activities was noted as an area for growth in many surveys and focus groups during our Strategic Planning process. As a result, many objectives and action items in our Four Year Strategic Plan involve bringing new extracurricular opportunities to our school community. Just over the past two trimesters, additions to extracurricular programming have included:
- News and Media Club
- Art Club
- Dance Club
- Instructional Soccer
- Instructional Basketball
- Martial Arts Camp
- Show Choir
And more! In addition to these great new initiatives, many of our middle school students have taken on new leadership roles s part of these programs! Lastly, we're pleased to share three additional opportunities, each of which is described in more detail below:
American Sign Language (ASL) Club - Grades 5-8
The club will run from immediately after dismissal until 3:30pm. Please use the Google Form here to register. There is no cost for this program!
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you there!
Interest Survey - FJVD Youth Group - Grades 4-8
If students enjoy these experiences, the group may also expand to include other events including weekend day events, etc.
If your student is interested in participating in Youth Group, please complete the brief interest survey here which will assist us with planning in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for more information!
All New Summer Camps @ FJVD!
You can find all of our camp listings and descriptions, as well as the link for registration, by clicking the link here.
Lastly, please note that camps are open to all children who are enrolled for the 2023-2024 school year. We are not able to extend camp registration to non-students at this time.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again next week! As always, be assured of my prayers for you and your families.
God bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin
