Newell's News
Skyline Ohana,
While it has been cold outside, things have been hot at Skyline! From the basketball courts to the stage, wresting mats to our eSports screens and from cheer comps to classrooms our students are on fire! Winter Sports are in preparing for their final weeks of competition this month and spring sports are preparing to begin.
Testing season has officially begun with our English Learners taking the ACCESS test to ascertain their growth over the last year. We will continue testing with the SAT and ISAT next month, then 226 students will be taking a total of 334 exams for 11 AP classes! Finally Seniors will wrap up the year with their Civics exam before graduation.
We are excited to welcome in parents and guardians to conferences mid-month and look forward to sharing the progress your students are making. Please look for more details on this as well as other important dates below.
Thank you for being a part of the Skyline Ohana. And as always, Go Grizz!

REAP THE REWARDS
Scenes from Skyline
Skyline Cheer had great success at TVCI in Boise in January.
Skyline Grizz Cheer has been busy at several competitions this trimester. The team has consistently placed in the top three at all of their competitions this season. Just over a week ago they competed at the Treasure Valley Cheer Invitational at Eagle High School. There they placed 1st in Show, 3rd in Pom, and 3rd in Sideline.
8th Grade Parent Night
Over 300 Eagle Rock students and their parents got to know Skyline at our even on January 29. In place of tours that disrupted classes at both the middle and high school this event offered a great opportunity for parents to check out the high school with their 8th grader. They explored booths highlighting different course offerings and activities as well as received tours from our student government.
Grizzly Sips
Ms. Hatch's Professional Development/Management students have begun a soda delivery service. To help her students build job skills, practice social interactions, learn about money management, staff place their orders ahead of time from the monthly menu and pay for their chosen drink. Ms. Hatch helps the students prepare the drinks and teachers then receive their mid-day boost, delivered with a smile from the students.

Happy Counselor Appreciation Week!
Our amazing counselors: Britnee Egan, Stevie Claxton, Troy Cook, Scott Hurst
Each year we celebrate National School Counseling Week during the first full week of February to honor the incredible and meaningful work all school counselors do each and every day. School counselors and career advisors play so many vital roles within a school community and for individual students and families. As we celebrate counselors, we wanted to pause and take a few moments to share our gratitude with school counselors for all they do. 💙🐻

19th Annual "Soup"er Bowl
We are #D91Proud of all the student leaders who organize this food drive, which has become one of eastern Idaho's largest food drives. Students will be collecting food from their feeder schools, gathering donations at groceries stores and more. Watch for ways you and the whole community can support this effort, which runs February 3rd through February 15th! The students have set a district-wide goal of 300,000 cans. Here at Skyline, we will be running a raffle for some pretty cool prizes, including gift certificates and baskets from local businesses, Stanley cups, Carhartt merch, and mini-fridges. Every classroom should have a collection box and students can decide which room they want to donate to. We also accept cash donations which the community pantry can stretch even further!
