MetUp Advisory Olympics!
MetUp Advisory Olympics were a blast! Competitions included a water bucket challenge, limbo, and a hobby horse race, along with some traditional games: musical chairs, red light-green light, and trivia. Our ASB really knocked it out of the park; each year our Olympics is better and better. Thank you to all of the ASB students, especially fearless President Sydnie Pitzer and ASB Advisor Mr. Becerra!
Exhibition Week - May 28-30
We are approaching Exhibition Week! At the San Diego Met, Exhibitions are our end-of-semester presentations of learning, in which every student shares out examples of their learning and growth from this semester, with an emphasis on presenting their LTI Projects!
Exhibitions for grades 9, 10, and 11 will be held on May 28-30. At the Exhibition, every student will present before a panel, and at least one parent/guardian must be present to help celebrate the student’s achievements and provide feedback. Students are expected to attend their own Exhibition, as well as several others. This is the only attendance expectation for this week, as there will be no regular classes on these days. Exhibitions will be the final graded component of students’ academics for the semester, and all grades will be finalized by Friday, May 31.
If you have any questions about LTI Projects and Exhibitions, please contact your student’s Advisor. We look forward to welcoming you to campus to celebrate your students!
Memorial Day - 3-Day Weekend!
We have a 3-day weekend coming up for the Memorial Day holiday. There is no school on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day weekend. Please enjoy your time off.
CCTE Showcase
On May 22, Met students across all grade levels will be showcasing their various projects at the annual CCTE Showcase. These projects will highlight the Met's commitment to learning by doing through research, community engagement, and project based learning
Project Invent
Chemistry students finalized and presented inventions to help community partners in association with Project Invent. This link connects to the videos the students created showcasing their designs.
Education Reimagined Learning Lab
Earlier in May, Met students and staff participated in the Education Reimagined Learning Lab, a gathering of educators and youth who explored the elements of learner-centered environments and how we can make our own schools more authentically responsive to student needs and directed by student interests.
Aspen Challenge
Congratulations, Carson!
Carson Timar, our fearless Instructional Assistant, recently completed his Bachelors Degree in English @ SDSU. He has been an integral and cherished part of our Met community for several years (not to mention an alum!), and will now be moving forward in his journey to become a credentialed teacher. Congratulations, Carson!
