October is Substance Use Prevention Month and holds Red Ribbon Week!
The month of October signifies National Substance Use Prevention Month — a time for communities to come together as partners in prevention. This month is also a time to acknowledge those in recovery, as well as children, parents, family, and friends supporting them.
Red Ribbon Week — recognized each year from October 23-31 — is the nation’s largest and longest-running substance use prevention campaign. “Choose Your Path. Make SAFE Choices.” This reinforces our SAFE Choices goal of ensuring young people have the information and tools necessary for making meaningful choices, and enable them to reach their full potential.
🍁Strategies & Tips for a Healthy Fall🍁
◾Get Your COVID-19 and Flu Shots
Getting the COVID-19 vaccine and recommended boosters offers the best protection against serious illness and hospitalization. CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses.
Handwashing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick. Wash your hands with soap and clean running water for 20 seconds. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol to clean your hands.
Aim to get at least 7 hours of sleep per night. Getting enough sleep is not a luxury—it is something people need for good health
