Hello Families

We made it through our first full week of school! It certainly is wonderful to have all of our students back in the building this year. The kids are excited to be back with their teachers and classmates and are looking forward to learning.

We also want to ensure that we are all safe at all times. At the time of this publishing we are still mask optional in the classroom, however a mask MUST be worn on the bus. Be sure your child has a mask if they are a bus rider.

Would you like to help Mr. Donlon put together our School Improvement Plan? We will meet live in the next week or two, or maybe you prefer a virtual meeting? I need parent help in putting together our plans for the new school year, your voice counts! I will always have a Spanish interpreter when needed. Let me know by calling the office and telling our office staff that you want to help with the school improvement plan. 574-293-2531

Thursday September 9th is the West Side Open House. Come meet your child's teacher and see the classroom!

Safety Items ~ Are you a Car Rider?

With the many car riders this year we have a lot of traffic in and out of West Side. We PLEASE ask that when exiting in the morning or afternoon, that you TURN RIGHT so that traffic continues to flow. Thank you!! We want everyone to be Safe!

Safety Drills

Parents, safety is our priority at school! Each month we have a fire drill and practice exiting the building in an orderly and safe manner. The picture to the left was taken during our August 18th fire drill practice. We can usually get all 550 people out of the building within 1 minute and 30 seconds.

We will also practice other drills in the coming weeks such a Severe Weather, Evacuation. If you ever want to know more about how we keep everyone safe please contact me, Mr. Donlon @ school.

What Time Does School Start?

Elementary Student Arrival Times

7:05 am -Students may enter the building at the sound of the bell

* If your child eats breakfast, please allow time needed to insure your child is in class on time.

7:25 am Class Start Time

* A student is considered TARDY if they arrive after 7:25 am.

2:15 pm School End Time

Did you Know...........

You can visit the Book Box in front of the school at any time. Feel free to take a book and keep it! We want to give away books. If you would like to leave a book you may do that as well. Please take advantage of this and enjoy a good book!
