Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the new school year! Whether you are returning or joining our school community for the first time, I am excited to partner with you in supporting your child’s educational journey.
Our small, close-knit school is a special place where we believe that teamwork, support, and collaboration are key to every student's success. I am committed to fostering an environment where all students feel valued, safe, and challenged to reach their fullest potential. My goal is to work alongside you and our dedicated staff to create a positive and enriching learning experience for every child.
This year, we will continue to emphasize academic excellence while also nurturing skills like responsibility, respect, and perseverance. I look forward to celebrating your child's achievements and watching them grow not only as students but also as individuals who are prepared to take on the world with confidence. Let’s make this year one of growth, success, and unforgettable moments!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher or the office. Thank you for being a part of our school family. I look forward to seeing all of our students return on September 3rd for the first day of school!
Warm regards,
Bailey Benson

Updates
Device Policy
The Minister of Education has introduced a new directive addressing device and social media usage in schools. This directive emphasizes the importance of student learning and mandates that schools develop policies to regulate device use among students. Attached is the device policy for Niton Central School. Please review it carefully to ensure we are all aligned.
I encourage you to discuss this policy with your child before the school year begins. I will also be going over the policy with our grade 6–9 students and sending a copy home with them.
If you have any questions or concerns about the policy, please feel free to contact the school.
Volunteers
We are grateful for all of the volunteers we have in our school and hope that you continue to volunteer in this year. We have many programs like reading buddies, hot lunch, sports concession, field trips, and more which are able to run because of volunteers!
If you plan to volunteer for more than ten hours over the course of the school year, you will need to ensure you have a criminal record check with vulnerable sector, Forms AP 401 and AP 402 on file at the school. Criminal record checks are good for two years, the forms need to be completed annually. If you are unsure when your record check expires, you can contact the office and we would be happy to let you know. The forms have been attached and are available in the office.
School Handbook
The school handbook has been updated and is also available on our website.
School Calendar
A printed school calendar will be sent home with the youngest in the family. A special note has been attached to the front with a few errors that weren't caught before it went to print. There is an updated version available on the GYPSD website as well as the one page calendar overview.
Permission to Leave at Lunch (Gr. 7 - 9)
Permission forms for our grades 7 - 9 students will be sent home on the first day of school and attached below. Parents/ guardians who wish to all their children to leave school property at lunch, will need to return the form to the school.
Grade 2/3 Co-Teaching
This year, the 2/3 class has both Ms. Boyles and Mrs. Simmons as their teachers. A letter has been attached below for parents.
Jr. High Schedule
The 6/7 and 8/9 class schedule.
Reminders
- Please do not park or stop in the bus lane from 8:15 - 8:45 and 3:00 - 4:30. The afternoon time is longer because there is a transfer bus that comes around 4:30 that needs to access the bus lane.
- The playground area is very muddy and wet. Please ensure you send your child in appropriate foot wear and with a change of clothes in their bag.
- Classes begin at 8:40 and dismisses at 3:15. If you are dropping off your child, they are able to come into the school at 8:30 or when the first bus arrives.
