Blue Mountain Elementary
Weekly Newsletter - Thursday, September 12th, 2024
Dear Parents,
Thank you all for your care and support in helping us navigate this week. Please continue to monitor your children for any signs of need and don't hesitate to reach out. This community always does a tremendous job supporting one another during these tragic events, and I can't tell you what a comfort it is to everyone to know that that support is there when needed. We know there is a new normal that we will all settle into at some point down the road. We will get there, one day at a time, together.
We will start to see more and more of our before and after school activities get started in the next couple of weeks. We have Robotics kicking off next week for our 5th graders with 100 Mile Club starting on Monday, September 16th. Chess Club will also be starting later in September so look for emails about that program soon. It won't be long before we are getting our Student Council group elected and up and running with National Elementary Honor Society just around the corner as well. We are also hoping to get choir and percussion ensemble going; though that will likely happen in the 2nd half of the school year.
One offering we would love to get going this fall is Math Olympiad. This is traditionally a parent-run group that meets once per week to explore challenging mathematics and engage in "competitions" several times per year. We typically have a mixture of 4th and 5th graders with a handful of 3rd graders participate and have everything a person needs to run the program with limited additional work. If you think you might be interested in sponsoring Math Olympiad this year, please reach out and we can talk more about what that would entail.
Take care,
Stephen

Due to the price increase of the new iPads, fees for damages or loss has increased. It is HIGHLY recommended that you purchase tech insurance at the beginning of the school year. The cost of insurance will remain $25 for the 24-25 school year. Insurance price is reduced for families who qualify for free or reduced lunch. The application for free or reduced lunch - now called the Education Benefits Form - can be found here. If you would like more information on what is covered under the optional insurance program you can find that here.
