Meet our new PBIS behavior interventionist
This year, we welcomed Ms. Emily, our new PBIS interventionist, to Cedar Trails! Ms. Emily joins us from Rockford and brings valuable experience in working with students. She and Ms. Ashley will be supporting our students throughout the day. We are excited to have Ms. Emily on our team!
Pick and Drop off
Thank you for partnering with us to make pick-up and drop-off go smoothly! Please remember that students cannot be dropped off before 8:45 a.m. (when the doors open). During pick-up time, we appreciate you having your pick-up number ready and being patient with everyone. Together, we can continue to make drop-off and pick-up a smooth process for everyone.
Beach Elementary News
PBIS at Beach Elementary
My name is Heather Rawson, and I am the PBIS coach for Beach Elementary. I work with a team to implement our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program and create fun celebrations for our students. Please contact the Dean of Students or our Behavioral Interventionists for any questions about specific student behavior.
What is PBIS?
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. It is a proactive approach to improving school safety and promoting positive behavior. Instead of focusing on punishment, PBIS teaches students positive behavior strategies, helping them understand what is expected of them throughout the school day.
Research shows that PBIS can lead to better student behavior, fewer detentions and suspensions, and even improved grades. It may also help reduce bullying.
PBIS at Beach Elementary:
VIP Students: Each week, we select a VIP student from each classroom. These students are celebrated on a bulletin board so everyone can learn more about them.
Monthly Celebrations: We hold monthly celebrations to recognize our students' academic and behavioral successes.
Ticket System: Students can earn tickets for positive behavior. These tickets can be used to earn fun experiences and vote on activities for our PBIS end-of-year celebration.
More to Come: We will provide more information about specific dates and details for these celebrations soon.
We are excited for a great year ahead and look forward to celebrating our students' successes together!
Meet our new behavior interventionist
We are excited to welcome Mrs. Graham and Mr. Dailey to the Responsive Thinking Center (RTC) at Beach this year! The RTC room is a place where students can take breaks to regroup and return to learning when they’re ready. We are focused on building positive relationships so that students have extra support when they need it. Mr. McCoy will also continue to support the RTC room at Beach, but he will be helping out in other buildings this year too. Welcome, Mrs. Graham and Mr. Dailey!

Important Reminders for Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Thank you to everyone who watched the video before the first day of school! Things have been going smoothly, and we appreciate your cooperation.
Please remember to park in the 15-minute parking spots in front of the building if you are walking your child to the door. Students can start lining up at the front door around 8:40 a.m. for the 8:45 a.m. bell. While there may not always be supervision outside, the students have done a great job so far.
For safety, please make sure students exit from the driver’s side door during drop-off. We are also expanding the curved area to create a second line for pick-up, which will help when others are still waiting for their students to load.
Thank you for your patience and for being courteous to others!

Reporting an Absence
New Face to Help Guide Student’s Along the Way
We are excited to add Jessica Moore to our behavior team at Cedar View. She will be working with Thomas Reed to help guide students with positive behavior support this year. She has worked the previous years as an academic interventionist so knows many of the kids at Cedar View already!
Math and Reading Intervention
We are working to revamp our math and reading intervention for this school year. In the previous two years students who were struggling and qualified were given either math or reading intervention. This year we will have both reading support and math support every day. We hope this can help bridge some academic gaps for our students who need extra support.
Picture Day Information
Picture day is on Wednesday, September 11. You don’t need to bring a picture form or money on picture day. Pictures can be ordered online within seven business days after picture day. Your child will receive the viewing and ordering information on picture day.
