The Stockdale Scoop

Employees from Valley Strong were on campus to conduct a Personal Finance Simulation with Economics, Government and Consumer Math students. Students were assigned a career, salary, family and walked through the gym making decisions about how to spend their salary. Students learned the importance of setting a budget and living within their means. A special shout out to our on campus student employees who helped run the simulation with members of the Valley Strong Credit Union.

Members of the Stockdale Baseball program helped box and deliver Christmas Care Boxes for those families in need.

Our Counseling Department and our School Social Worker hosted the 3rd Happiness Hangout of the year- calming jars! Calming jars can be a valuable tool for high school students by providing a simple yet effective way to manage stress and anxiety, helping them regain focus and emotional regulation during overwhelming moments. The visual and tactile experience of watching the glitter settle encourages mindfulness and relaxation.

The Stockdale Key Club, Advisor Mr. Clark Jue and Principal Pierce were presented its new club Charter and gavel from Kiwanis International and by President Judy Goad of the Westchester Kiwanis Club. The 2024-2025 officers were also awarded their officers pins.

A few Stockdale Key Club members, their parents and Advisor Mr. Clark Jue were invited and volunteered at the 2025 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade decorating several floats a few days before the big parade.

Biomed students are demonstrating their newly learned phlebotomy skills as they learn about taking vitals and valuable laboratory tests used to diagnose patients. Thank you to our awesome school nurse, Carrie Rohrbach for her time and guidance for this lesson!

Our Spring play this year is Shrek the Musical! Over 60 students bring the play, based on the popular movie, to life! Join us February 28, March 6, March 7 at 7pm and March 1 at 2pm at the Stockdale PAC! Admission is $10 per person and doors open thirty minutes prior to showtimes! Come see the musical that reminds us that what makes us special makes us strong!

• SENIOR STUDENTS: The Financial Aid application (FAFSA) is open! Our next FAFSA workshop will be February 27th from 3:30 to 6:30 in Room 601 for students and parents. The deadline to submit is March 3rd!
• The Scholarship Scoop for seniors is posted on the school website and on Canvas. It can be found HERE
• The ROC/CTEC application closes in March. Current 10th and 11th graders can apply online! https://roc.kernhigh.org/
• FRESHMEN: If students and/or parents would like to schedule a 4-year plan meeting, there is still time! We will be scheduling through the end of the month!
• 9th to 11th graders: Counselors will be visiting English classes the first 3 weeks of March to register students for Stockdale summer school and classes for next year. Watch for paperwork to come home soon!
• CSF: The application for CSF is OPEN! The deadline to apply is Friday, February 21st. Students must apply online. The application information is in Canvas.
