Veterans Day Program
Our 1st and 2nd grade students have been preparing an amazing performance for Veterans Day. We invite you to join us in the Bertram Cafeteria Monday, November 11th at 8:30 am. Veterans are invited to wear their regalia for students to see and experience! Students are encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. We are grateful for our Veterans.
Attendance Matters
Bertram's ADA for this past week was 95.84. That was our highest ADA since the first week of school! Great job, Bulldogs!
ADA stands for Average Daily Attendance and is defined as the total days of student attendance divided by the total days of instruction. We recognize that illnesses and events take place that necesitate absences, however, we do encourage every student to be in school every day he/she is able.
- Did you know that just 2 absences in a Six Weeks can mean YOUR child is CHRONICALLY ABSENT?
- Do you know the research about Chronically Absent student performance?
- Did you know that when Absences ADD UP this one statistic can contribute to below grade-level achievement and increase in social emotional anxiety for students?
Attendance matters and absences add up! Make every day count.
BHS Pep Rally
We are excited to announce that students who have returned the permission slip will attend the Pep Rally at Burnet High School on the morning of November 14, 2024. With the full experience of cheerleaders, band, and games, we know this will be a fun and unforgettable event. We will be celebrating the Bulldog Football team’s entry into play-offs that evening.
**Please plan accordingly!**
Due to seating limitations and safety practices, we will not be able to accommodate parent observers at this event, and parents will not be permitted to check students out for the day while away from campus.
Fall Book Fair
Our Fall Book Fair will open Friday, November 8th. Be on the lookout for information coming home with your student later this week.
The Fair will be open late from 4pm-6pm on Thursday, November 14th for parents to shop. Families can also check in at the office to shop the fair during the school day from 7:30-3:20pm. We will close at 12pm Friday, November 15th. Please have your ID ready when checking in at the office.

Author Visit - Aaron Reynolds
Bertram Elementary is excited to host an author visit in partnership with the Bertram Public Library from renowned children’s author Aaron Reynolds on Monday, November 18, 2024.
Aaron Reynolds is a bestselling author and has written many highly acclaimed children's books including Here Comes Destructosaurus!, Carnivores, and the Caldecott Honor-winning book Creepy Carrots! For more information about Mr. Reynolds and his books, visit his website, https://www.aaron-reynolds.com/ or his Instagram @aaronreynoldsbooks.
During his CREEPY-centric presentation Mr. Reynolds will discuss his CREEPY books - Creepy Carrots!, Creepy Pair of Underwear!, and Creepy Crayon!. Mr. Reynolds will share how he came up with the original idea, which unexpectedly transpired to two award-winning sequels, and there may also be a sneak peek at the upcoming CREEPY chapter books due out next fall. A Q&A will follow.
Each of his CREEPY books follows the same main character, Jasper Rabbit, as he encounters a new creepy object which becomes the source of his troubles. In Creepy Carrots! the Twilight Zone comes to the carrot patch as Jasper fears his favorite treats are out to get him. While in a Creepy Pair of Underwear! a pair of underwear, that at first glance seems cool, quickly turns creepy. Finally, in Creepy Crayon! Jasper's luck doesn't change as he's plagued by a crayon who takes over his life.
Creepy Carrots! and Creepy Crayon! are currently in our Bertram Elementary Library collection (which is available for your review online); however, Creepy Pair of Underwear is not currently in our Bertram Elementary Library collection so we are providing you with this information in advance in effort to ensure transparency regarding reading materials available to your student.
You have the option to request that your child not participate in the program. To do so, you MUST complete the form below, a printed copy will also be sent home in your child's folder this week, and send it to the counselor or teacher before November 15, 2024. Your child will be provided with an alternate activity while the program is presented.
If the form is not complete before November 15th, we will plan for your child to participate in the author visit.
