September 18, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
Hello Centerview families!
It’s been a fun first three weeks. The energy is contagious as students arrive each day for a full day of learning! The smiles are ear-to-ear as they walk, skip and hustle into Centerview. Our staff appreciates their readiness as we greet and welcome them to a new day. Thank you, families, for setting the stage for a successful start to each morning.
Again, this year, we’ll be reaching out to take an occasional pulse check on your current experience at Centerview Elementary. You can expect occasional texts/emails from Possip – the organization we’re partnering with to conduct our pulse checks. Each round, there will be a couple of quick questions. You can choose to share your name or remain anonymous. Sharing your name does help us follow up if needed. We’ll be kicking off pulse checks next week on Thursday, September 26.
We are gearing up for our annual Passport for Learning event next Thursday, September 26, 5:30-7:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity to venture through Centerview and experience the curriculum and the daily personal experience of your student. Final details will be shared in next week’s newsletter to help you prepare as a family for the experience. We are looking forward to this Centerview community event!
Finally, it’s safety week at Centerview. This is where we practice safety responses to incidents, events, or occurrences that could take place during the school day. Teachers will facilitate discussions with students around evacuation, containment, lockdown and bus safety. Tomorrow, we will be having conversations around a building lockdown before we practice a school wide lockdown. If you do not want your child to participate please let the front office know. Our students’ safety comes first, and as we work and learn through the year, safety is a priority.
Take care, and we’ll see you soon!
Mike

Centerview PTO Happenings
Thank you to all the families who attended the first PTO Meeting of the year on September 17th. It was wonderful to connect with so many new and returning families. We received a school update and tour from our principal, Mr. Callahan, and discussed upcoming events and volunteer opportunities.
The Fun Run is coming up on Tuesday, October 8. Flyers and envelopes went home with students this week. This is the only fundraiser for the Centerview PTO to raise money to support students and staff for the school year. Money raised from the Fun Run will go towards exciting things at the school like field trips, field day, family events such as the Glow Dance, and staff appreciation meals.
We are asking students to talk with their families and friends about raising $5 from 5 people to run .5 miles. Pledge money in cash can be placed in the envelope students received or pledges can be made digitally here. All students will participate in the Fun Run regardless of funds raised. The Fun Run will be a Bubble Fun Run with tons of bubbles for the kids to run through!
This year, our goal is to raise $12,000 and if we meet this goal, we will get to pour a bucket of ice cold water over Mr. Callahan’s head in front of the whole school! Please have your students return their pledge envelopes to their teacher by Monday, October 7th, to support the Fun Run.
Families will be invited to attend and watch their students complete the Fun Run on October 8th, more details to come as the event nears. Volunteers will be needed to make this a successful event, if you are interested in volunteering check the PTO Happenings next week for the SignUp Genius. We look forward to making this event exciting and fun for everyone!
