The MJT Weekly
September 27th, 2024
This week at MJT
Dear MJT Families,
Your student has either completed, or is nearing completion, of their first iReady Diagnostic assessment. This is a computer based assessment given three times each year for both ELA and math. For ELA, it measures your student's ability in the following areas: phonological awareness, phonics, high frequency words, vocabulary, and comprehension. In math, it measures student's abilities in the following areas: Numbers and operations, algebra and algebraic thinking, measurement and data, and geometry. Based on their results, teachers are able to plan individualized and group instruction. Additionally, there are individualized learning path lessons that students can complete on the computer independently. Each students progress is tracked and growth is monitored throughout the year.
Consistent daily attendance at school is key to having a successful year. Our district policy states that a student must be in regular attendance 90% of the time. In order to help facilitate regular attendance, you will receive an attendance letter if and when your student reaches the following number of absences: 6, 12, 18. If your student reaches 12 or 18, you will be asked to come to school to meet with our attendance team to discuss ways in which we can help create a plan for more regular school attendance. If your child is absent 2 or more consecutive days, please consider obtaining a note from their physician. Students are marked tardy if they are dropped off after 9:00. We do understand that illnesses certainly occur, so please reach out with any questions or concerns.
