As we enter the last week leading up to Winter Break, there are many events going on for our students and families at OCIS! Please take a moment to review the information below.

• PTA 4th & 5th Grade Holiday Movie Night - Wednesday, Dec 18th - 6:00-8:00pm
• BOE Meeting - Thursday, Dec 19 -7:00pm @ OCHS
• Early Dismissal - Friday, December 20th - 12:10pm
• No School - Monday, Dec 23 - Wed, Jan 1
• School Resumes & OCIS School Spirit Day - Thursday, Jan 2

This is a reminder that Friday, December 20th is an early dismissal day for OCIS students! All students will be dismissed at 12:10pm.

There is NO School Monday, Dec 23 - Wednesday, Jan 1. School will resume on Thursday, January 2nd. Enjoy the Winter Break!!

Parents & Guardians are reminded that when visiting the building for events or picking your child up from school early, we are required to check ID's. This is to ensure the safety of our students.

Please be prepared to show photo identification for all visits including early dismissal of students. Thank you for your cooperation & for helping to keep our school safe.

A few additional reminders:

• In the event that students need to be signed out / picked up early, we ask that you do this prior to 2:00pm to assist in our dismissal procedures and avoid the buses in our front bus loop.
• Under NJ State attendance guidelines, students must be in school a total of 4 instructional hours (not including their lunch or recess) to receive credit for a full day of school.

The 12 Days of Holiday Spirit sponsored by the Student Council continues through the days leading up to Winter Break. Please see the calendar below for theme days!

The PTA will be sponsoring a Holiday Movie Night for 4th & 5th Grade OCIS students. They will be showing "Home Alone". Please click the link below to complete a permission slip for the event. Students attending must have a completed permission slip on file.

Mark your calendars! The 6th - 8th Grade Drama Club production of Matilda Jr. will take place on Thursday, January 30th & Friday January 31st! See the flyer below for more information.

Congratulations to our 4th grade classes on helping to set a world record as part of the cup stacking event on November 12th! They helped set a new WSSA World Record along with other participants around the world to have 752, 632 people stacking in multiple locations at one time.

A special thanks to our 5th Grade Team and Mr. Nunan for organizing this opportunity for our students at OCIS!

To report a student absence:

• Email: OCISattendance@ocsdnj.org
• Please state student's name, grade, homeroom teacher, and reason for the absence

Please note that this email does not excuse your child from school. For the absence to be coded as an absence not counting towards truancy, a doctor's note or other proper documentation as outlined in the district attendance policy must be submitted to the main office when your child returns to school.

Tardy / Late To School

Students receive two free unexcused lates per marking period (arriving after 7:45am). Any additional unexcused late arrivals will result in a detention being issued as outlined in the OCIS student code of conduct. Students arriving with a doctors note will be marked as an excused late arrival.

• Please continue to check your PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly to stay updated on your child's grades, attendance, and more.
