Introducing Miss K
I’m Kalista, and I’m thrilled to join this incredible school community as the Case Management Site Coordinator. My mission is to support our students and their families by fostering a positive, nurturing environment where every child can succeed academically and personally.
I have my bachelor’s degree in sociology with a minor in psychology and am currently pursuing my Master’s in Social Work, maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I plan to graduate in August. My professional background includes diverse experiences in mental health, child protective services, and other fields focused on empowering and advocating for individuals.
As a former foster child, I bring a unique perspective and personal understanding to my work. My goal is to use both my professional expertise and life experiences to make meaningful connections and provide the best support possible for students and their families.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at 972.347.7150. I’m looking forward to working together to make a lasting impact in our community!
Warm regards,
Kalista Gilbert

Lunch Visitors and New Conversation Cards
We are super excited to add some fun to lunchtime with your student(s)! Thank you Mrs. Simmons for this fabulous idea. Beginning the week of October 28th, we have added conversation cards to each table. Please note, this is a brief time to spend with your child(ren) enjoying each others company, a fun meal and a great conversation. Please do not have students spend time on cell phones or other electronic devices during your lunch visit, but instead, spend quality time with one another talking about the school day or other interesting topics. We hope the conversation cards will help with some great topics to discuss. Please feel free to flip through the different cards at your table and talk about the topics that are interesting or important to you.
We also want to remind you that if younger siblings are attending, they need to be supervised at all times and remain in the Owl’s Nest.
You may sign up to have lunch with your child via this link. Adult lunches are not available to purchase at school so please plan on bringing your own lunch when you come to eat lunch with your child(ren).
Please be sure to bring a form of identification when arriving at Cross Oaks and check in at the front office off of Tumbleweed Drive. Times listed on the reservation form are when lunch starts so plan on arriving a few minutes early.
If you are coming to eat lunch with your child, please note, you may not invite other children to eat with you unless we have written permission from the other parent(s). Thank you so much for understanding that lunch is limited to eating with your own child only unless we have written consent sent via email to the office staff prior to coming for lunch. For more details or where to send the email, please call 972-347-7100.
