Quarter 1 Ends on October 31st
As we approach the end of the first quarter on October 31, we encourage families to stay connected with their child’s progress by regularly checking ParentVUE. Keeping up with grades and assignments is a great way to support students as they wrap up this quarter and prepare for the next. As a reminder, Administrative Procedure 5121.2 indicates that "make up work can be submitted only up to the fifth school day prior to the end of the quarter to ensure teachers have time to grade all outstanding work". Please be sure to email your scholar's teacher if needed. Thank you for your partnership in helping our students succeed!

Tomorrow: Men Make A Difference Day at CMIT North Middle
Tomorrow, CMIT North Middle School will be hosting a "Men Make a Difference" event! This event is an opportunity for male figures (fathers, grandfathers, uncles, mentors, etc.) in the lives of our male middle school students to participate in a morning of discussion and activities from 8:30am-10am. Please be reminded that you will need to sign in at the main office so arriving a few minutes early is suggested. Breakfast will begin promptly at 8:30. Thank you to all who have registered to attend!
*This event will be business casual for all participants, including students. Please bring a tie if you have one.*

Large Purses/Bookbags/Backpacks and Fanny packs
Please note that students are allowed a small clutch/purse (~6”x9”) is acceptable use to carry for personal needs. A pencil pouch that clips into a binder is suggested to minimize the chance of lost items.
Scholars are carry and wear to a Large purses / bookbags / backpacks / fanny packs will be asked to store them in their lockers. Only during short-term emergency situations will students be allowed to get these items which must be returned to lockers immediately
after use.

Students from Academic Resource and ELD can pick up their rewards on either Thursday or Friday mornings.

Athletics & Clubs
Athletic Eligibility
CMIT North Middle School participates in competitive athletics with other PGCPS middle schools. To be eligible students must have the following:
1. Complete the Athlete Participation Packet and return completed forms to the Athletic Director;
2. Have and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA;
3. Review and agree to the PGCPS Parent/Student Athletic Handbook;
The requirements must be completed prior to stepping on the field for tryouts.
Fall Sports: Baseball, Softball
Winter Sports: Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Cheer
Spring Sports: Girls Soccer, Boys Soccer
Families are encouraged to complete the requirements over the Summer months to ensure eligibility when seasons begin. Athlete Participation Packets and physicals are good for the entire school year.
Season Completed
Congratulations to our softball team for a job well done this season. Although we fell short to Walker Mill in the playoffs, the ladies have done an outstanding job this year! We are proud of you!!!
BASKETBALL TRYOUTS
The girls' basketball team will have a second tryout on Monday, October the 28th, from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Please turn in your completed physical form, signed by your doctor, at the tryout. The tryout will be in the middle school gym, be dressed in athletic wear! Please pick your child up at the middle school gym, at 4:30pm promptly.

From robotics to chess, aviation to environmental initiatives, there’s something for everyone. The clubs listed in the attached form are open to all students, no invitation or application needed. Spots are limited, so be sure to secure your place! For other clubs not listed, participation is by invitation or requires an application through the club sponsor.

1. Joining the PTO and Paying Dues for SY 2024-2025
We invite you to join the CMIT North Middle School PTO to help advance our purpose and support our scholars. Our members vote on how we use our resources, what initiatives to focus on, and who should lead the organization.
Remember that per our bylaws, “Any parent, guardian, or other adult standing in loco parentis for a current student at CMIT North Middle, or a parent, guardian, or other adult standing in loco parentis for an incoming student who will attend CMIT North Middle beginning the next school year, may be a General Member of the Organization. A General Member who has paid dues consistent with [the bylaws] shall be considered a member in good standing and shall have voting rights.”
Also, “A General Member must have paid their dues at least 10 calendar days before a General Membership Meeting to be considered a member in good standing with voting rights.”
Membership Dues: $15 per school year. The membership year runs from July 1 through June 30 of the current school year.

2. Fundraiser: Guac and Roll for CMIT North Middle at Chipotle in Laurel on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 4-8pm
Spice up your dinner and join us at Chipotle in Laurel, located at 14354 Baltimore Avenue, on Tuesday, November 12 from 4-8pm. Twenty-five (25%) of sales will be donated to our PTO!
Order online for pickup using code LJJMV2X or show the flyer (below) at the restaurant. For online orders to count towards the fundraiser, they must be placed for pick up from this location and during the hours of the fundraiser.
3. Fundraiser: Sweet Scoops, Big Impact at SweetFrog Laurel on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 from 3-9pm
The PTO is excited to announce an ongoing fundraising partnership with the SweetFrog in Laurel, located at 3341 Corridor Marketplace. Beginning on Tuesday, November 12 and going forward on every second Tuesday, you can visit SweetFrog from 3-9pm and twenty-five percent (25%) of earnings will go to our PTO!
When you visit SweetFrog, you can show them the flyer (below) or just tell them that you’re there to support CMIT North Middle School.
4. Fundraiser: Fall Into a Good Book at the Scholastic Book Fair from November 11-15, 2024
CMIT North Middle School is having a book fair next month, running from November 11th through the 15th.
Starting on Monday, October 21, any parent, guardian, or other adult standing in loco parentis for a current student at CMIT North Middle will have the ability to create an eWallet account for the upcoming Book Fair in November. It's straightforward and can be accomplished in a few steps. See the attached flyer for steps to fund an eWallet account.

5. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
Health Expo - Saturday, November 9 (For 8th Graders to Earn Community Service) - Join us for the CMIT North Elementary School Fall Festival/Health Awareness & Fitness Day on Saturday, November 9, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm! This exciting event will feature a variety of health-related activities, vendor booths, fitness demonstrations, and family-friendly fun.
If interested in volunteering to help, please use this form to sign up your 8th grade scholar. The form will close on November 4th. We invite the entire community to come together and celebrate health, wellness, and fitness. (https://forms.gle/gJ7FPooq9crM3xNR7)
Community service forms will be sent via email based on the area selected. There will also be a sign in/ out sheet provided the day of. All students participating must register no day of students will be allowed to volunteer for community service hours.

8. Become a Volunteer!
It’s a new school year, so whether you are a new or returning volunteer, it’s time to submit your application and complete the approval process.
