PTA News You Can Use

Before Teacher Appreciation Week... it's Volunteer Appreciation Week and your White Eagle PTA wants to thank EVERY volunteer who helped out in ANY way this school year! Whether you spent 15 minutes in Circle Drive or 3 months serving as a committee chair, we WOULD NOT have been able to pull off the numerous events, programs, activities, fundraisers, service projects, class parties, yearbook photos, inaugural Multicultural Nights or much more without your gifts of time, good humor, and creativity. Please know how thankful we are for each of you and we look forward to celebrating with you later this week!

As summer looms, we bet you're feeling even more thankful for our amazing White Eagle teachers and staff and thanks to your support this year we'll be able to celebrate them in style! Take a look at what the Teacher Appreciation Committee has dreamed up for Teacher Appreciation Week May 6th-10th.

The Nominating Committee presented the below slate of nominees to serve on the White Eagle PTA Executive Board for the 2024-25 school year at our meeting last week.

We are grateful for each of these individuals and their willingness to serve our school community! We're also still in need of candidates for the positions of 1st VP & 2nd Vice Presidents. Any current PTA members interested in running for any Executive Board position will be able to nominate themselves from the floor at our final PTA Meeting of the year on May 15th at 6:30 pm in the MPR. Thank you to Ron Wilke and the parents and staff who joined us for our PTA Meeting/Internet Safety Presentation on April 17th! Just in time for summer, LOTS of great tips were shared about how to keep our kids SMART, ALERT, STRONG, KIND, and BRAVE on the internet! Thanks to the generosity of Google, we are able to share some of these amazing resources with all parents:

1. Be Internet Awesome Family Guide - an interactive tool that you can use to discuss internet safety as a family.

2. Additional slide deck with resources focused on sharing Google online safety features and tools intended to help keep kids and families safe online (e.g., SafeSearch and Parental Controls)

3. We also wanted to share a sample Social Media Contract that many parents find is a useful tool to establish mutual expectations on rules of engagement with social media.

Already thinking about school supplies for next year?! Ok, well even if you aren't there yet either you can keep shopping simple by pre-ordering school supply boxes through School Tool Box. Ordering via White Eagle's online store will be available through June 23rd and supply boxes will be available for pickup AT SCHOOL during the Meet the Teacher event in August. Supply lists have been pre-approved by White Eagle teachers so you know that you're getting exactly what your student will need for next year before you've even had the chance to THINK about next year.
