Cedar Shoals High School Newsletter

Please note that we will be on an early release schedule on Thursday, May 16th and Friday,May 17th. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 after picking up a sack lunch. Backpacks will not be allowed on campus these two days. Please see below for the final exam schedule for next week

MANDATORY GRADUATION PRACTICE is at 2:00 p.m. sharp on Thursday, May 16 at Stegeman Coliseum. EVERYONE MUST BE PRESENT! You will NOT be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony if you are not at practice. Please plan to be patient and to remain until dismissed by Ms. Willis. You should make your employer aware of this date and time.

Graduation is this Saturday, May 18th at 6:00 p.m. All graduates need to be at Stegeman by 4:30 p.m. We ask that all seniors wear appropriate graduation attire. For men, a white collared button-down shirt with a tie, dark colored pants, and shoes. For the women, a dark colored dress or dark colored blouse with a skirt and dark shoes. Footwear is required. Tennis shoes, flip flops, and sandals are NOT considered appropriate attire.

Please see below for a map of where guests attending graduation should park. Keep in mind that Clarke Central's graduation immediately precedes Cedar's and guests might have to park in South Campus depending on the number in the parking deck across from Stegeman.

Attention rising seniors (class of 2020)!

Senior portrait appointment letters are being distributed. Lifetouch will be at Cedar Shoals July 22-24 this summer for senior portraits. The session fee is $30 and includes 4 poses including the formal shot and cap/gown picture as well as two casual poses. Makeups will be held in the Fall for students who are unable to come in the summer, but the session will only include the formal and cap/gown pictures in the Fall. If your student did not receive an appointment sheet or if you have questions, please e-mail Mr. Ginsberg (ginsbergm@clarke.k12.ga.us).

Attention Parents/Guardians of current 9th Accelerated Coordinate Algebra/Analytic Geometry students. Dr. Morgan has provided your student with a sheet of summer math activities that will help keep their understanding of Analytic Geometry fresh for the 2019-2020 school year. Please ask them about this sheet and encourage them to complete the activities. I am not sure when the IXL subscription expires but Kahn Academy is free. Rising 9th and 10th Graders (Particularly those going into 9th Grade Accelerated Math!)

What:
Three hour-long sessions review sessions covering topics such as--writing the equation of a line, solving linear equations, and solving systems of equations. Other topics may be previewed as time allows.

Dr. Morgan has over 20 years of teaching experience at the secondary and college level. She currently teaches at Cedar Shoals High School and has taught 9th grade accelerated math the past two years.

Summer School Information 2019

High School credit recovery: June 3 - July 3, 2019

Morning Session: 8:40 - 12:20

Afternoon Session: 12:45 - 4:25

Registration Day is May 30, 2019. Parents who have signed and turned in the CCSD Credit Recovery Participation Agreement in advance do not have to attend Registration Day,

• Time: 8:30 A. M. - 11:30 A.M. and 1:00 -3:30 PM. Additional information will be provided in the application google form. This form will be sent to students who pre-register.

Students/parents should understand that pre-registration does not guarantee a place. The student must complete the online application and show up during the designated registration time to guarantee their place. Parents do not have to show if the agreement is completed and signed in advance of registration

Eligibility:

• Students enrolled at Cedar Shoals may sign up for one Summer School Course
