A Message from Principal Tellechea

Hello Chapman Families!

We have had a wonderful start to the school year. This month we are recognizing the Chapman Community Value of Diversity and hosting our first annual Multicultural Celebration on Friday, September 27th. We hope you'll join us for music, performances, food, and fun. Please save the date!

There are many opportunities to get involved. If you plan to volunteer at a school event, drive on field trips or help in the classroom, then please complete the online volunteer form button at the bottom of this page or pick up a volunteer packet from the office. All volunteers in CUSD must complete the volunteer packer, have a valid TB test or screener on file, and complete fingerprinting with the district. Once volunteer packets are turned in to the office or submitted online, a fingerprinting appointment will be made at the district office (free of charge). We appreciate your involvement at the school!

Another great way to meet new parents and be involved in special events is by attending our PTA meetings. This month we have our first association meeting on Wednesday, September 18th at 2:40 pm in the library. The Chapman Newsletter is a monthly newsletter that provides a current calendar of school events. It also contains articles related to school activities and important links. It is emailed home monthly and also available online on our website at http://chapman.chicousd.org/Newsletter/index.html

Chapman Park Mosaic Unveiling

Check out the beautiful mosaic at Chapman Park that our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students helped create last year! Huge thanks to Ms. Callahan for spearheading this project with our students and working with the Rainforest Project and CARD to make it happen!

Chapman Read-A-Thon: Community Readers

Thank you for your support of the first annual Chapman Read-A-Thon. Along with fun reading activities throughout the day, local community members and staff participated by reading a book to classes. Huge thanks to Heather Sufuentes (Director of Elementary Education), Anecia Johnson (daughter of Dorothy F. Johnson and founder of Amma Culture), Maria Moreno (Director of Upward Bound Projects at CSU Chico), Dave Tehan (retired school aide), and Laura Manning (retired TK teacher) for their participation.

New Staff Spotlight

Community Schools Grant (CSG) Coordinator

Mr. Chase Chevallier is the district CSG Coordinator. He spends time on our campus assisting with supervision and runs our Chapman Gardening Club at lunch. Please say to hello to Mr. Chevallier when you see him!
