Message from Mrs. Jones
Hello, Fallbrook Students & Families,
We continue our focus on College & Career Readiness this week, first and foremost with our PSAT Day on Wednesday, October 9th. Below are details of how students in all grades will have the opportunity to engage with planning for high school and beyond on this minimum day:
- PSAT Day, 2024! On this day, ALL 11th graders will take the PSAT. 10th graders who indicated interest in early September will also have the opportunity to take the PSAT. Our seniors will begin looking ahead to graduation and beyond, with presentations from our graduation rep, college and career exploration, and more. Our 9th and 10th graders will review the College & Career Readiness Indicators, and will work on completing 4 year plans to ensure their course selections for the rest of high school align with their post-secondary plans.
Why the PSAT matters:
- This exam provides students the opportunity to practice for other college entrance exams, like the SAT, ACT, and other placement tests they may be asked to complete during the college application and entrance process. We are fortunate to be a part of a district that offers this opportunity to our students free of charge!
- Students who take the exam have the opportunity to qualify for a National Merit Scholarship; this includes anything from earning a Letter of Commendation to include with college applications to earning extensive scholarship allotments toward prestigious universities.
- Following the exam, students will receive AP Potential reports in their College Board accounts. This report indicates advanced placement courses for which students may have demonstrated a particular aptitude based on PSAT scores, and can help students consider more rigorous options as they plan the remainder of the high school courses.
Impact Aid Forms are HERE - Your Input is Needed for the Annual Impact Aid Survey!
As part of our annual data collection, we are asking for your participation in this year's Impact Aid survey. This survey plays a critical role in securing federal funding for our district.
What is Impact Aid? Impact Aid is a federal program that compensates school districts for lost tax revenue due to the presence of federally owned lands within their boundaries.
Why is it Important? Our school district receives approximately $1.8 million each year from this program. These funds are essential in providing the best educational experience for your children.
How to Participate:
Check your email for the digital survey link, it will be in your inbox on 10/02/2024 and shared through Parent Portal Communications. Complete and submit by November 1st, 2024.
Alternatively, paper copies can be picked up from the front office, and will also be sent home with your student on Monday, 10/7, through their WPT Homeroom.
Your timely participation is vital for the ongoing support of our educational programs. Let's continue to work together to make our school district great!
If there is anything you need, please feel free to reach out by telephone at (760) 723-6300 x3102, x3110, or x3103, or by email through our website.
Let's make this a great week, Warriors!
