Ten Things I Hate About You
It's so good even Aristotle loved it!
Why you should see this film:
2. Character: The audience can easily find a character to relate to whether it be the antisocial feminist (Kat), the resident 'bad boy' (Patrick), the popular girly-girl (Bianca), or the the lovable 'nerd' (Cameron). These characters transform this film into an inspirational movie that generations will adore.
3. Thought: The theme is to never change who you are to better fit society's mold. The movie touches on issues of a patriarchal society, the pressure on a teenager to fit in, the need to rebel, and the pain of unrequited love.
4. Diction: "I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all." Watch the movie to find quotes that will stick with you forever.
5. Sound: Bad Reputation by Joan Jett is what gives this movie the extra "oomf" factor. Also, songs like I want You To Want Me, Can't Stop, and Even Angels Fall made it onto the wonderful soundtrack.
6. Spectacle: The archetypal high school setting allows kids to consider their future, teenagers to relate to the present, and adults to reconcile with the past. Furthermore, the characters' wardrobe choices reflect their personality.
