Principal's Message
Dear Angell Community,
The Berkley School District is always evaluating the safety measures in place to ensure the District is doing everything it can to keep our students and staff safe. One of those safety measures is making sure each school has an off-site reunification partner in case of an emergency.
Once a year, elementary students and staff walk to their reunification sites in the community to practice their evacuation route during a time that our community partners are available. This site visit allows staff and students to familiarize themselves with the walking route and the site itself. Angell’s site visit will take place on Tuesday, May 21st at 9:00 am.
If our building were to require an evacuation due to a building issue (e.g. gas leak) or crisis situation, we have a full plan in place. Students will walk with teachers and support staff to our off-site location while staff from the Administrative Office will assist with the reunification process. We have reunification kits in place at our partner locations and have practiced the protocols with our staff. If a reunification is necessary, emergency contacts will receive detailed messages from the District on what to do, where to go and how to pick up their children. The best thing you can do as a caregiver during an evacuation is to wait for instructions on when and where to pick up your children. Waiting to arrive until after you receive notifications from Berkley Schools will allow us to have an orderly process for reunifying all students.
We won’t be sending out any additional alerts regarding our site visit this week, but I wanted you to know that our walk will be taking place on Tuesday.
Coming soon is our rescheduled assembly with the Farm Science Lab. We will host a state of the art, mobile lab on Tuesday, May 28th through Thursday, May 30th. However, we still need a few volunteers to make it all work. If you are able to help and you are an approved volunteer please use the link below to sign up. Special thanks to our PTA for arranging for this exciting learning opportunity for our students.
Angell is fortunate to offer a before and after school Kids Zone program. The registration process will open on Thursday, May 23rd and will run through Friday, May 31st. Angell always has great participation and typically has a waiting list so please register sooner rather than later to secure a spot for the 2024-2025 school year. For more information please access the flyer below.

Farm Science Assembly HELP NEEDED!
Calling all volunteers! The FARM Science Assembly has been rescheduled and is coming to Angell on Tues. 5/28, Wed. 5/29, and Thurs. 5/30 and we need your help in order to make it happen!
Each grade level will gain a diffferent hands-on experience in their mobile learning lab. We are asked to provide a parent volunteer for the morning and afternoon sessions on each of these days.
The sign up includes which classes are attending the field trip during each half day session. However, you may sign up for any half day session that fits your schedule regardless of which class your child is in.
Thank you in advance for donating your time to make experiences like this possible!
*Please only sign up if you have already submitted your volunteer paperwork and have been approved
Field Day Volunteers Needed
We are excited to host our annual Field Day experience for our students and staff on Friday, June 7th at 1:00pm. Mr. Price does an incredible job of organizing this event, but he cannot pull it off without help from our wonderful community.
If you are able to spare the time, are already an approved volunteer, and would like to help us celebrate the success of another fantastic year please use the button link below.
Thanks for your consideration.

The Angell PTA is already thinking about the 2024-25 school year. The PTA has again partnered with 1st Day School Supplies to offer an optional way to purchase suggested school supply items for your student. These school supply kits have been reviewed by our staff and contain everything needed to start the next school year. Orders are due by July 1st and will be delivered to your student's classroom at Angell prior to the start of school. Please remember to order the grade level that your student will be in the fall.

PTA School of Excellence Community Feedback Survey
The Angell Elementary School PTA knows that a strong partnership among our families, school leaders and community members is important to the success of our students and school. That’s why we are participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.
We need your help again! As part of the process outlined by National PTA, we are requesting our second round of feedback from families, administrators and teachers. Using the community feedback, we will reflect on our community plan.
As a reminder - here is an outline of the process so far.
- November 2023: Asked school community for feedback.
- December 2023 - March 2024: Created a community plan, worked with a focus group of community members and finalized plans to implement community plan.
- May 2024: Ask school community for additional feedback.
- June 2024: Reflect on feedback given and submit final documentation.
Through community involvement (volunteer focus group), it was decided that the PTA would purchase a new piece of playground equipment. The focus group researched potential pieces, presented on those pieces and then voted for the winner (picture below). It is our hope that this piece of equipment will be installed and ready for the 2024-2025 school year.
Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete this survey. Please complete this survey by Sunday, May 19, 2024.
You can also email us at angellberkleypta@gmail.com with questions or concerns.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration as we work toward becoming a National PTA School of Excellence!
