The 8th grade ELA teachers have determined that their essays will now move on to the state-wide competition with a chance to win $1,000 and an additional $1,000 for RMS. Trimester 1 is almost in the books. We will be ending our first trimester of the 24-25 school year on November 15th. Please take some time with your student to look over grades and make sure they have turned in all of the assignments they can. The end of the trimester is also a great time to set goals for the next trimester. Discuss concrete goals with your child like no missing assignments, asking for help, or focusing on attendance. When students have goals to work toward they tend to do better and feel more confident and accomplished.
★ 6th Grade
6th Grade Minute Meetings have continued and have been such a success! Please encourage your students to reach out to Mrs. Skover if they ever need anything!!
As we are approaching the end of the trimester, it is important to continue checking in with your student’s class progress. Please continue to check Powerschool and Schoology grades WITH your student. This is a key skill for students to have as they progress through middle school. Please reach out directly if you or your child need their Powerschool/Schoology login information.
★ 7th Grade
Please be sure to sit WITH your student this weekend to check grades on PowerSchool. The end of trimester 1 is Friday, November 15th and trimester 2 begins on Monday, November 18th.
Minute meetings continue to be a great opportunity to check in with students! If something comes up that needs further attention or action, the counselor and student will meet in the office to chat and come up with a solution.
You are always welcome to reach out. Perhaps sharing something personal that is going on that may be impacting your child at school or sharing a success they recently had! Either way, I look forward to hearing from you!
★ 8th Grade
Next week will be our last week of Homework Help for Trimester One. I have really enjoyed working with our 8th grade students and helping them get back on track. Many of them have found success and have been able to improve their grades and have built up their confidence. We will probably take a few weeks off since we are starting a new trimester. I will continue to monitor grades and reach out to students who are struggling.
Minute Meetings continue to take place during R-Time 1st Hour and it has been great getting to start my day checking in with our students. I love finding out their interests and making sure they all have a “go-to” person in our building. We will continue these throughout the year with the goal of meeting with all students.
