Notes from the Principal
Good Afternoon Lincoln Families!
The Thanksgiving season is upon us. This is my favorite time of year when fall is in the air and we have the opportunity to focus on the many things we have to be thankful for in our lives. I am certainly thankful to be able to be a part of the Lincoln School family and be surrounded by so many wonderful students and staff members each day. Lincoln School is a special place and I love coming here each day.
Next week is a short week at Lincoln School. We have school on Monday, November 25th and Tuesday, November 26th and are then off for the Thanksgiving holiday on Wednesday-Friday, November 27-29. Due to this shortened week, AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS WILL NOT BE HELD.
Lincoln School will be participating the Christmas Parade this year! All students and families are invited to participate along with us. In line with this year's theme of Heroes of the Holidays, we will be honoring some of our local heroes. Students, staff and families will follow our "Heroes" float and walk as grade level groups, each group will be honoring a type of local hero. We are expected to be in the first group, toward the beginning of the parade. However, I am still waiting for final information. As soon as we receive that, I will share the sign-up flyer.. Please note that all students must have a supervising adult attending with them.
With great appreciation,
Teresa Bruso

Fever of 100.4 or higher. May return to school when your child is fever-free for 24 hours without
the use of fever-reducing medications.
Vomiting- May return to school when your child has not vomited for 24 hours.
Sore throat pain with difficulty swallowing; Red and swollen tonsils, sometimes with white
patches or streaks of pus and tiny red spots on the back of the roof of the mouth.
Swollen, itchy eyes with thick discharge, crusty or redness to the whites of the eye.
Rash that’s unrelated to a chronic skin condition.
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
Excessive mucus from the nose (runny nose) or sneezing unrelated to environmental allergies.
Persistent non-productive/productive cough- May return to school when cough is under control.
Please follow-up with your child’s doctor if symptoms persist and don't get better. Your child may

PUSD K-4 Math Adoption Pilot
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well! I’m excited to share some important news about our elementary math program. As part of our ongoing curriculum adoption process, we will be piloting two new math curriculums in all of our classrooms. During the second quarter of this school year, we’ll be piloting Reveal Math from McGraw Hill, and in the third quarter, we’ll pilot i-Ready from Curriculum Associates.
Why This Pilot?
Our goal is to adopt the best math curriculum for our students, one that fosters confident, critical thinkers who are excited about math. By testing these two programs, our teachers will have the opportunity to evaluate new instructional resources and strategies. Throughout the pilot, they will assess how well each curriculum supports student learning, engagement, and mastery of the Arizona math standards.
What to Expect:
Same Core Learning Goals: All students will continue to work toward meeting the Arizona math standards. The pilot is focused on how we teach the content, not on changing grade-level expectations.
New Lesson Formats: You may notice some changes in how math lessons are structured. The pilot may introduce new problem-solving approaches, hands-on activities, and real-world applications of math concepts.
Teacher and Student Input: Teachers will closely monitor students’ engagement and progress. Your child’s experience will be a key part of the evaluation, and we will value student feedback.
Continued Support: Regardless of the curriculum in use, we are committed to supporting all students and ensuring they meet the essential math standards.
Next Steps:
At the end of the third quarter, we will gather input from teachers, students, and parents to guide our final decision on which curriculum to adopt.
We’re excited about the opportunity to enhance math instruction and appreciate your partnership as we explore these new possibilities. If you have any questions or would like to share your thoughts during the pilot, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Warm regards,
Teresa Bruso

Tutoring Options for 2024-25
Attention PUSD Families!
While we won’t be able to offer our free tutoring program this year due to the end of COVID-relief funding, we’ve got good news! The State of Arizona still offers free tutoring options to help your child succeed.
To find a tutoring provider, just visit the Authorized ATP Tutoring Providers page on the Arizona Department of Education website. There, you can connect with an approved tutor and set up sessions that fit your schedule.

October is Self-Direct Month
This month, we’re challenging students to envision future goals and take intentional steps toward who they want to be. We are partnering with you to grow and develop your child’s ability to self-direct. We can model self-direction by celebrating the positive in each day, seeking the good in others, and emphasizing our responsibility to make positive choices.
