Good afternoon Bronco families!

We hope everyone had a Brilliant weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! We are excited to see our Bronco Superstars tomorrow and continue our work as Brilliantly Inspired Leaders and Learners through our Bronco 5! We are so incredibly proud of our Broncos and all of the hard work they are putting in each day on campus and of our staff for their excellence in growing our students.

The month of May is here! We can't believe how fast everything is going. Our students finished STAAR testing last week, and this week all Broncos will beginning their end of the year MAP testing. This is an important academic marker for our students to measure their progress and growth. At the end of this week we will also hold our Field Day Event! Please see below for more information about this highly anticipated campus event.

This week is also our Staff Appreciation Week. We love celebrating our awesome Brill staff and we appreciate their deep investment in our students and campus.

Please note that attendance is very important right now as we are continuing to grow our students as learners and are working hard academically to help them finish the year strong! End of the year testing has begun for all our Broncos and we want them to feel confident!

Our 2nd grade Bronco Superstars had an amazing learning lab today where they got to take on the role of paleontologist and sift through fossilized sediment to find shark teeth, shells and more! The HMNS visited and taught our students how many kinds of fossils there are, how they are made, and what various fossil types can tell us about ancient life. What an awesome day of learning and thank yout to Brill's PTO for hosting this awesome enrichment activity! 👏💙💛🔍️

Congratulations to our Bronco Chorale members who participated in Klein’s Honor Choir this past weekend! Our Broncos shined bright at this prestigious event! 👏💙🎶

So proud of our talented Broncos who created and showcased their awesome art projects this weekend at Klein’s Fine Arts Festival! Great job Broncos and a huge shout out to our brilliant Art teacher Ms. Bacich for supporting our students! 👏💙💛

Beginning this week, all Broncos will take their end of the year MAP testing. This is a super important assessment to measure their learning and growth this year. It will also drive instructional supports for them next year and can serve as a qualifier for advanced classes. We know our students will do a great job!

This Friday is our Field Day Event! If the weather holds, we will have a full day Field Day this year. If you plan on attending, please complete the form below by May 6 to avoid delays on the day of the event. All grades, K-5, will attend BOTH sessions. Please note that we will close the campus from 10:45 to 12:45 to give our students an opportunity to rest, eat lunch, and complete learning activities with their class.

Guests will check-in by the lost and found doors located by the bike rack/gym side of the school. At check-in guests will receive a visitor pass, field day schedule, and activities map. Please utilize street parking that day and ensure your student has a water bottle and sunscreen. Thank you!

Parents, please Save the Date for our Bronco Awards. All of our 1st through 5th graders will be attending our awards ceremony and receiving an award. Parents may check-in through the cafeteria doors 30 minutes prior to the ceremony.

Parents,

• We are incentivizing for students based on behaviors and academics.
• Students must complete assignments and not have any office referrals for physical contact in order to participate. Students with other referrals may have partial time for the incentive.
• Student behaviors will be from October 21-December 12, January 13 -March 13, and March 24 - May 22, for the next incentive.
• We will have school wide incentives on December 13th (Just Dance), March 14th (Board Game Day), and May 2nd (Popcorn/Popsicle Day) for students to earn.
• Please remind students on school expectations through our Bronco 5.

We will begin sharing our Club and Organization information including sponsors, meeting dates, and times at the end of August through our Thursday folders, announcements, and Sunday newsletters.

Student Illness:

As cold, strep and flu season progresses, we are in that time of year when many students are coming down with upper respiratory symptoms. These include nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, and possibly fever.

Please be aware that Klein ISD requires that students be excluded from school for a fever of 100.0 or higher and they may not return to school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Temporarily masking a fever with medication does not change the fact the student is in the contagious period of an illness and may be spreading the illness, like the flu, to others by coughing, sneezing, and touching surfaces.

While we value student attendance, it is important everyone plays their part in keeping the spread of illness to a minimum by following this rule. Please also make sure your contact information and emergency contacts are up to date with the Registrar so that you can be reached in the event your child is ill and must be picked up from school.

NEW Medication Guidelines:

If your child will need a prescribed medication while at school, there has been a change to Klein ISD procedures. Prescribed medications will need a written order by a licensed healthcare provider. Clinic staff will not be able to use the prescription label as proof of the written medical order, as in the past. The licensed healthcare provider can use the Klein ISD Medication Authorization form, an action plan, or a letter from their office to provide their signed consent. If you have any questions, please contact our school clinic.

Also please contact the clinic for any student needing an action plan.

Ex. Action plans may include the following:

• Asthma
• Allergy to foods
• Diabetes
• Seizures

Breakfast & Lunch Information:

All car riders and walkers will be allowed in the building beginning at 7:45 am to eat breakfast before reporting to their homeroom class. All bus riders will have the option of eating breakfast once they arrive on campus. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria each morning in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

Thirty minute lunch periods will be scheduled by grade level beginning at 10:30 am through 12:50 pm. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria at every lunch in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

In order to be able to comfortably accommodate the large number of students eating lunch in the cafeteria at one time, it is necessary to assign days for parents to eat lunch with students at the tables in the front lobby.

Grade level assigned lunch days are listed below. Lunch visitors on days other than the assigned day will be permitted with prior permission from campus administration and will be limited to special circumstances such as birthdays, out of town visitors, etc.

ALL visitors must check in in the front office. Please bring ID to receive your temporary badge.

Last week we worked to get all student's their ID and transportation tags. Please note their are specific locations for these tags on your student's backpack and the tags need to stay in those locations, please. Bus riders will need to have their SMART tags when entering and exiting the bus, all car riders, bus riders, and walkers from Pre-K through 1st need a transportation tag, and teachers have ID tags for lunch time.

If you student has lost their tag or a replacement/additional one is needed, please contact Ms. Hall in the front office via email or by phone at rhall2@kleinisd.net or 832-484-6150.

• Visitors should ring the doorbell located at the front door of the school in order to notify the front office staff of your arrival.

• Visitors will be asked to present their IDs to the camera before entering the building.

• Once inside, visitors should report to the main office to check-in and receive their visitors badge. Visitors are asked to remain in the areas noted on their badge.

• Students will not be released to visitors during school hours without a photo ID, thank you for understanding and for helping us to keep our Broncos safe.

Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.

Any student who is absent for the whole day is required to produce one of the following within 5 days of their absence(s):

• Parent Note
• Message through Parent Skyward account
• Original medical note (copies or altered notes will not be accepted)
• Faxed notes must be sent from physician’s office
• Court note
• Official note for observance of approved religious holy days

All cell phones and electronic devices including Airpods and earbuds should be kept powered off in your student's backpack or belongings. Students may not use their cell phone or electronic device during school hours. Cell phone use in restrooms is strictly prohibited and will result in school consequences. If a student is caught using their phone, the device will be taken to the office by a staff member and the parent will be contacted.

If a parent or caretaker needs to communicate with their child, please contact the front office and we will facilitate getting your child the message.

Plus, your membership gives you a vote to help shape our yearly budgets and events.
