May 2025
Dear Atwater and Lake Bluff Families,
Our schools are committed to giving our students the opportunity to participate in authentic learning experiences that build their capacity to innovate, work together to solve problems, and contribute to their community. Our priority is equity, growth and excellence for all. Our staff will work collaboratively to determine class placements that are best for all students. Our primary goal in constructing class groups is to achieve heterogeneity and equitable access for every student according to his or her specific needs. For this reason, family requests for specific classrooms or teachers do not factor into student class placements.
If you believe there is specific health information or learning needs that may need to be considered when assigning class placements next year, please communicate those needs directly with your student’s teacher. This in no way guarantees a placement within a specific classroom but provides context for administrative decisions regarding class placements.
Class placement will be released to those who have completed the annual registration process. This will occur sometime in late August.
We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we navigate ensuring equitable access and outcomes for every student.
Sincerely,
Mike Joynt, Director of Teaching & Learning
Shari Tucker, Director for Equity
Janice Carter, Atwater Principal
Johanna French, Lake Bluff Principal
