Principal's Note
Dear Meadow View Families,
We kicked off Black History Month with a strong start, learning from Black leaders past and present and honoring their contributions to our society.
This is an exciting time, as I mentioned last week, because we have two big events coming up at the end of this month:
Save the Date!
- 8:00-8:45 AM – Annual Black History Month Assembly
- Our entire Meadow View community is invited to celebrate with us!
- 9:00-11:00 AM – Our First Read Your Heart Out Event!
What is Read Your Heart Out?
Read Your Heart Out highlights Black authors and books while welcoming Black families, students, and community members to read in classrooms. This event also honors National African American Parent Involvement Day through the power of storytelling!
Who Can Participate?
Everyone is welcome to join and enjoy the amazing read-alouds we have selected for our students! Now it’s your turn to sign up and read in your child’s classroom or any classroom at Meadow View. You are also welcome to invite grandparents, family members, neighbors, or friends - anyone who would love to come and celebrate Black Excellence with us!
What Books Will Be Read?
If you have a favorite children’s book that celebrates Black stories and authors, you are welcome to bring it and read it to the students. Otherwise, no worries! You can stop by the LGI and pick a book from our selection.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We are so excited for this meaningful celebration and can’t wait to see you there!
Thank you!

Support for a Meadow View Family in Need
Dear Meadow View Families and Staff,
I am reaching out to ask for your support for one of our Meadow View families who experienced a devastating house fire this weekend and lost most of their personal belongings.
This family has been a part of our community for years—two older children were Meadow View Otters, and their younger sibling is currently in 2nd grade.
To help them during this difficult time, their family has set up a GoFundMe, which you can find [here]. If it’s easier for you, you are also welcome to donate gift cards, which can be dropped off at the Meadow View office. We will be taking the children shopping at Target this week, so Target gift cards would be especially helpful.
Thank you so much for any support you can provide to the Jones family. Your kindness and generosity mean the world to them. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
With gratitude,
Mrs. Bell

Parent/Teacher Conferences
February 24 - 28
We believe in partnering with parents to provide an exceptional education for every child, every day. This year, we are excited to offer flexible options for parent/teacher conferences, ensuring that 100% of our students have the opportunity for a meaningful parent/family/teacher conference.
During the week of February 24–28, classroom teachers are offering 20–30 minute conferences. This winter, conferences are extra special because, for the first time, we are introducing Student-Led Conferences!
What are Student-Led Conferences?
For these conferences, your student will join you and take the lead during the first part of the meeting. They will proudly share their behavior and academic goals with you. It’s a wonderful opportunity to hear directly from your child about their progress and growth—so get ready to learn from them!
If you have additional questions or need clarification, please don’t hesitate to connect with your child’s classroom teacher.
We also understand that this time of year brings a lot of communication from us and the Sun Prairie Area School District, especially if you have children in multiple grades or buildings. This email is designed to simplify things and help you navigate the conference sign-up process.
If you have already signed up for a conference, there’s no need to do so again.
How to Sign Up for Conferences
Please find your child’s classroom teacher’s name and sign up for a 20–30 minute conference. In addition, our specialists are offering 10-minute conferences for parents who would like to meet with them.
Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education. We look forward to seeing you and your students at conferences!
Warm regards,
Cynthia Bell Jimenez

DLI Caregiver Tour
On February 6, 2025, we hosted our first Dual Language caregiver tour at Meadow View. The purpose of this tour was for parents and current Dual Language students to walk around Meadow View, learn about our Mission, Vision, and School Commitments, and begin to feel at home in their new school community.
We had an incredible turnout, with about 40 parents and 20 students attending! Families were not only impressed by the beauty of our building but also by the welcoming environment and the readiness of our entire school to embrace the Dual Language Program.
Here are the slides we used during our time together. I am also attaching the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document for current DLI parents in case you’d like to learn more about our transition process.
As a current Meadow View parent, how can I learn more about DLI?
During parent-teacher conferences, teachers will have information to share with all families.
Additionally, if you have a Spanish-speaking student currently in 4K, Kindergarten, or 1st grade, our team will connect with you for a one-on-one conversation about the benefits of the DLI program for your child and the potential next steps.
ATTENTION!

LGBTQIA+ Supports
Dear SPASD Staff,
As we continue to see shifts in federal policy with the issuance of executive orders, we want to remind our entire school district community once again that we remain resolute in our commitment to all staff, students, and families and our School Board's Equity Statement. In times of change, it is important for us to remain intentional and committed to our Core Commitments and our Mission, Vision, and Equity Statement.
This unwavering commitment includes supporting our LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families. Our School Board’s Equity Statement clearly states:
“We stand by all of our students, staff, and families . . . The SPASD celebrates and values our diverse community. We support and are inclusive of all students, staff, families, and community members of all races, ethnicities, faiths, national origins, home language(s), socioeconomic status, immigration status, political viewpoints, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities . . . All children will be safe and loved in our schools . . . Every Child, Every Day.”
And:
“We stand by our LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and families. We take seriously our responsibility to provide safe, non-discriminatory, and inclusive environments for people of all orientations and identities as they reflect our diverse community,”
These commitments call on us to steadfastly support our LGBTQIA+ students, families, and colleagues so they may feel welcomed, safe, loved, and supported. As we progress through the remainder of the school year, our policies, practices, and procedures that ensure student and staff access to our educational programs in an environment free from discrimination and harassment will remain in place.
We will also keep our students and families informed and connected to resources. Please do not hesitate to direct students and families with questions to the Resources for our LGBTQIA+ webpage. Your building leaders and your colleagues who work in the Human Resources Department are also available as a resource for any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your partnership in making our schools safe and welcoming spaces for every student, family, and staff member. If you have questions or need further clarification, please do not hesitate to reach out. Together, we will continue to uphold our commitment to equity and inclusion.
Sincerely,
Brad Saron, Superintendent

Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program
As you may already know, beginning in Fall 2025, Meadow View will proudly host one of the two Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Programs for Kindergarten, First Grade, and Second Grade.
Some parents have reached out with questions about the program and its impact on current Meadow View students. To keep you informed, I will include weekly updates in this newsletter about the Sun Prairie Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion Program. If you have specific questions about your child or family, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
Learn More About the SP Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion Program:
The Sun Prairie Area School District is proud to offer a bilingual Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program in select schools! Currently, the program is offered to two cohorts of students in Kindergarten and First Grade.
Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, the DLI program will be offered at both Northside Elementary and Meadow View Elementary. (Previously, Westside Elementary hosted the program, but it will shift to Meadow View to allow for more space in 2025-26 and beyond.)
For the 2025-2026 school year, a new cohort of kindergarten students will be formed with interested families from both schools. Additionally, all kindergarten students from Spanish-speaking households across the district will have the opportunity to participate in the program at either Northside or Meadow View.
Families eligible for this program will receive more details about upcoming spring information nights. Those interested will be able to complete a Spanish-English Dual Language Immersion application when it becomes available this spring.
El Futuro es Bilingüe / The Future is Bilingual: Check out the Sun Prairie DLI program promotional video.
- Will hosting the DLI program affect Meadow View’s school boundaries or current students? No. Meadow View has ample space to host the program without changing our current attendance boundaries or impacting existing students.
We are thrilled to offer this incredible learning and leadership opportunity to our Sun Prairie students! Please feel free to reach out if you’d like more information about the program.

Birthday Treat Guidelines
We wanted to provide some guidelines regarding birthday treats and appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the well-being and inclusivity of all students. Please take a moment to review the following reminders:
Accessibility and Allergies: When bringing in birthday treats, please ensure that the food labels are easily accessible to Kelsey and Madhu, our staff members at the front desk, who are responsible for allergy awareness. This allows them to check for any potential allergens that may affect students in the class.
Individually Packed Items: We kindly request that you consider providing individually packed items for birthday treats. This helps with portion control and ensures convenience for distribution. Individually packaged treats also minimize the risk of cross-contamination and promote cleanliness.
Non-Food Treats: We encourage you to explore the option of non-food treats for birthdays. Non-food items can be equally enjoyable and are a great way to celebrate while accommodating various dietary preferences and restrictions. Examples include small toys, stickers, pencils, or bookmarks.
No Class-Wide Food Items: To maintain a balanced and inclusive approach, we kindly ask that you refrain from providing class-wide food items such as pizzas or hot dishes. This helps prevent any potential disruptions to the regular meal routine and ensures that dietary restrictions are respected.
No Balloons: While we understand that balloons are often associated with celebrations, we kindly request that you refrain from bringing balloons to school. This is to maintain a safe and distraction-free environment for all students.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following these guidelines. By working together, we can create inclusive celebrations that ensure the well-being of every student. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
