The Bulletin is designed for informational purposes to keep the West York Area School District Community informed of Board happenings and is not intended as an official record of meetings. • Action was taken on the following items:
• A Board Resolution renaming the Bulldog Mascot to Spike in honor of Joseph "Spike" Bahn, who passed away in October
• Acceptance of a donation to the Bulldog Pantry
• Creation of a Student Activity Blue & White Fund for the Class of 2027
• Eight expulsions
• One school-related trip (over 50 miles)
• Bus Driver

• Monthly Financial Statements

• The meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by President Lynn Kohler.

• President Kohler announced that an Executive Session was held prior to the meeting to discuss personnel and legal matters.

• President Kohler called for a moment of reflection for the passing of Joseph "Spike" Bahn.

• The minutes from the October 17, 2023, meeting of the Board were approved.

• Discussion items included:
• Donation to the Bulldog Pantry from the B.D. Social Club for $1,000
• 2023-24 Bus Driver Recommendations
• Two Board Policies were presented for a first reading
  
• Policy 001
• Policy 005
• One Board Policy was presented for a final review
• Policy 202
• Request for a new Student Activity Account for the Class of 2027
• Other matters for discussion included:
  
• Five expulsions
• One school-related trip (over 50 miles)
• A Lifetouch update
• Reminder of the West Manchester Township ten-year planning meeting on Monday, November 20th

• Mr. Ken Phillips shared information about District borrowing as it relates to upcoming projects

• Personnel Discussion Recommendations

• Recommendations for approval at the November 21st meeting include new hires, resignations, retirements, volunteers, etc.

• Recommendations for approval of personnel items at this meeting were presented.

• The recommendation to approve an Interim Technology Director was presented

• Personnel Action Items
  

• There were a few time-sensitive personnel items approved, including the Interim Technology Director and a Cocuriccular MOU.

• Committee Reports:

• Note that internal committee minutes are attached to the Work Session agenda in the month following the committee meeting.
• Internal Committees:
• Budget and Finance Committee
• Cocurricular Committee - Director Rice noted the next meeting will be on November 21st
• Educational Programming Committee - Director Herman and Dr. Davies reported on the EPC meeting held immediately prior to this Work Session
• Facilities Committee - President Kohler had no report
• Foundation for the WYASD - Director Myers reported fundraising efforts for Spike Bahn and Coach Shearer were underway and could be made via check or Venmo
• CEC Committee - Director Shope asked Dr. Davies to share CEC highlight from the October meeting:
  
• Changing the name from PRIDE to Communication and Engagement Committee (CEC)
• The flagpole banner samples are in and will be displayed at Lincolnway for a final decision regarding ordering for other buildings
• The Bulldog logo will be discussed at the next meeting in January
• Wellness Committee - Director Dennis was not present, but Ms. Holman reported that there are some initiatives underway including sharing healthy recipes in the weekly internal Bulldog Bark newsletter.
• External Committees and Boards:
• West Manchester Township Recreation Committee - Director Dennis was not present
• York County School of Technology - Director Harlacher
• York County School of Technology Authority - Director Rice
• York Adams Academy - Director Herman report that winter graduation will be held on January 24th.
• York/LIU Joint Authority and LIU Board of Directors - Treasurer Gettys reported that there will be a change in the LIU Board Leadership in January.

• There was no public comment.

• President Kohler adjourned the meeting at 9:34 p.m.
