Campers will get creative with colors through a variety of art forms exploring the way water affects color and light through mixing, color theory and filters. We will learn about the use of natural materials in creating dyes and explore colors found in nature with a walk through Flushing Meadows Corona Park*. Art activities are inspired by Queens Museum exhibitions, including the wonderful colors and designs found in our Neustadt Collection of Tiffany Glass. Art mediums cover painting, drawing, weaving, sculpting, collage, printmaking, and performance.
Week 2 (July 18-22): Nature Artists
What happens when art and nature meet? Campers will explore themes related to art and the natural world. We will use our own local natural environments like Flushing Meadows Corona Park* for inspiration. Art activities will integrate natural materials and incorporate a variety of exciting activities inspired by our Relief Map of the New York City Water Supply System and other Queens Museum exhibitions. Art Mediums will include painting, drawing, weaving, sculpting, collage, printmaking, and performance. We’ll also learn about how different artists and cultures around the world link art and nature.

Campers will explore personal stories and histories through art making adventures. Art activities are inspired by gallery explorations through Queens Museum exhibitions, and adventures in Flushing Meadows Corona Park*.
