Essex Elementary Extra
Edition: November 4 - 8, 2024
As we settle into November, we are grateful for the continued nice weather, allowing students to enjoy their time outdoors a bit longer! Fresh air and physical activity play a big role in keeping our students energized and ready to learn. With these warm temperatures, our Lost & Found is overflowing with sweatshirts and jackets! Please encourage your child to check our Lost & Found if anything is missing from their wardrobe!
As we observe Veteran's Day on Monday, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the veterans in our community and beyond for their service and sacrifice. Please join us in honoring these brave individuals who have dedicated themselves to to protecting our country and our freedoms.
Morning Arrival Reminders
A few reminders about morning arrival:
- Breakfast is available for students beginning at 7:45 in the cafeteria.
- If students are not coming for breakfast, please do not drop students off prior to 8:05am, as there is no adult supervision until that time.
- For car drop-off, please pull all all the way forward in the zone as possible. Through doing this, you help keep traffic moving and prevent backup on the street.
Thank you!
Specialists' Spotlight
Greetings From Technology Class with Mrs. Seymour
Check out some of the happenings in technology class!
We have been focusing on keyboarding skills in grades 3-5. In our keyboarding unit, students continue to hone their typing skills through various exercises aimed at improving speed and accuracy. They are working on proper hand placement and finger techniques, working through our engaging online, gamified typing programs. Students will continue to practice typing skills throughout the year in both Technology Class and their general classroom.
Meanwhile, students in 2nd grade started their computer science unit and dove into the fundamentals of coding. Students learned basic programming concepts such as sequencing, loops, and conditional statements. They are using a visual coding platform in combination with the Root robot, reinforcing their understanding of logic and problem-solving. Stay tuned for a slideshow highlighting this unit!

3rd Grade Celebrates Our Local Veterans
