Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy
September 2018 Monthly Newsletter
Welcome Back, Rainiers!
Greetings Columbia Crest Families,
My name is Allison Shew and I am the PROUD Principal of Columbia Crest A-STEM Academy. The legacy of academic excellence at Columbia Crest is rich and continues to be a cornerstone of the Nisqually Valley Communities. As an addition to the rich legacy of Columbia Crest, Preschool was added to the family this year. WELCOME PRESCHOOL! We also completed the installation of our greenhouse and garden area. This year all ten of our grade levels will work in our garden to plant and grow their own crops. Our goal is for students to harvest the crops to add an organic addition to our lunch options.
My goal as your principal is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to experience deeper learning in an engaging classroom environment. In partnership with you our desire is to provide students an opportunity to excel academically with unique experiences that our location provides. Thank you in advance for your dedication as we enter the 2018-2019 school year!

Important Reminders and Updates
Attendance is important. We are a Project Based Learning campus which means a lot of the work teachers do with their students is difficult to makeup from home. Please have your child attend class each day he or she is not ill.
Our school hours changed this year. School begins at 7:45 a.m. and dismissal is 2:15 p.m. Students are marked tardy at 7:50 a.m. If you bring your child to school after 7:50 a.m., you must escort them inside and complete a tardy sign-in.
Breakfast is served on the stage each morning. You may upload money onto your child’s account using Skyward or send in cash or a check. Please don’t forget to complete and turn in the school lunch form.
Please refer to the school district website for information on bus routes and times. Click on the following link for the most updated bus route information: https://www.eatonville.wednet.edu/departments/transportation/school-bus-routes-and-walking-information/cca-regular-routes
VERY IMPORTANT- If you would like for your child to ride a different bus or get off at a different location, please call our office or email us no later than 1:00 p.m. for all changes in transportation to be made. This is to ensure that the teacher and administrators place your child on the correct bus.
All Parents Need to Complete Forms on Skyward
To allow your child's teacher the opportunity to take the class to any of our outdoor learning areas parents need to complete the proper forms via Skyward.
1. Go to the district website https://www.eatonville.wednet.edu/
2. Scroll over the Families box at the top of the page. Click on Skyward.
3. You should now see a login page. In the drop down menu towards the bottom, make sure you click on family/student access.
4. If you do not know your Login ID and Password, please check with the Columbia Crest office at 360-569-2567 or email Lindsay Fitzer at l.fitzer@eatonville.wednet.edu

Box Tops for Education
We would like to thank everyone for their continued support collecting Box Tops for Columbia Crest. We had a great response last year earning $413.50. We hope to earn even more this 2018 - 2019 school year. Please continue to ask friends, grandparents, relatives, neighbors, and co-workers to clip and collect Box Tops for Columbia Crest.
Box Tops has been a great way to earn things for our school. Throughout the school year we will be having collection drives to earn money for each classroom. The kids love the competitions! The classroom who collects the most Box Tops during the competition is rewarded a special treat.
Our first competition this year will take place September 5th – October 5th
Box Tops can be turned in the drop box or binder in the hallway near the office or you can them into your child’s teacher. Thank you for your support!
