Last Week of the 2023-2024 School Year
A Week Filled with Excitement
It is hard to believe that we are officially in the last week of this school year. This week is always filled with excitement as students begin counting down to sleeping in, spending time with friends and family, and enjoying the beautiful summer weather.
We have included some important information below about summertime communication, office hours, summer reading, AP summer work, and other reminders.
Nipmuc Main Office - The office will be open from 7:30am - 2:30pm each day in the summer with the exception of holidays. You can reach the main office at 508-529-2130 or nipmucmainoffice@mursd.org.
School Counseling Office - The school counseling office will be open for new enrollments, work permits, transcripts, and other administrative requests. School counselors are available through June 21 and will be available again beginning on August 19. They do not work over the summer. All requests for the above-mentioned items should be directed to Ms. O'Brien in the school counseling center. She can be reached at 508-529-2190 or via email at jobrien@mursd.org.
Student Schedules for the 2024-2025 School Year
Schedules for the 2024-2025 school year will be available in PowerSchool on Tuesday afternoon around 2pm. If there are any concerns (incorrect classes, blank block, etc.), current Nipmuc students should see their counselor in the lobby during school on Wednesday. Incoming freshmen and students new to the district can use this Google form for any concerns. Please note that we cannot accommodate request for specific teachers or to be placed with peers.
Nipmuc Spanish Exchange Program - Upcoming Informational Meeting - June 18
Nipmuc is thrilled to bring back our Spanish Exchange Program for the 2024-2025 school year. This past December, we welcomed 27 high school students from the Divina Pastora School from LeĂłn, Spain, to Nipmuc. Our exchange partners stayed with local host families and were fully immersed in the Nipmuc community for over two weeks. They shadowed our students for several days in order to experience our academics, athletics, and everyday life as American teenagers. This coming school year we will also be headed to Spain as part of this program.
On Tuesday, June 18 at 6:30pm there will be a virtual informational meeting for anyone interested in learning more about the program. Whether you are interested in being a host family or your student is interested in traveling to Spain, join us to learn more. Below you can find several pieces of information including the zoom link for the upcoming meeting, a form that families can fill out if they are interested in being a part of the program to host or travel, and the itinerary for the trip in April 2025.
Don't hesitate to reach out to Ms. Ana Soto at asoto@mursd.org with any questions.
Welcome New Students and the Class of 2028!
We are excited to welcome incoming students from the Class of 2028 and students across all grades who are new to the district! In order to help with the transition to Nipmuc, we will host freshman and new student orientations on Wednesday, August 21. Students and their families can choose to attend either of the sessions below.
- Orientation Session 1: August 21 from 9am - 10:30am
- Orientation Session 2: August 21 from 5pm - 6:30pm
Please know that these sessions are optional. Additionally, parents/caregivers are welcome to attend the orientation with their child. Part of the program includes information specifically for parents and caregivers.
Summer Reading - Something New this Year
This year, we invite students to participate in our Summer Reading Challenge! Students may select a book of their choice and help build our reading community by submitting a Readers’ Advisory via a Google form. The form will help us collect book reviews for an online and physical display to showcase our collective learning. Mrs. Townsley will review all advisory content before publishing. While the ultimate goal of this new model is engagement through independent choices that encourage lifelong reading, we are happy to incentivize student participation by offering extra credit in term one English classes.
We are pleased to provide the MA Teen Choice Book Awards (all book nominees are available in SORA) and American Library Association book lists to help guide students to award-winning books with diverse genres and authors. Please take advantage of the numerous formats to access books. For example, many of these books can be found in your local libraries, through e-books such as Kindle, at bookstores, and through audiobooks such as using the Libby, Audible or SORA app. Please choose which method of access works best for you to read, explore, and grow.
AP Summer Work 2024
Advanced Placement Summer Assignments
Students that will be taking Advanced Placement course(s) this upcoming school year may have summer work. Please click on the button below for the full list of AP courses for next year and the summer work that is assigned (if applicable). If you have any questions prior to summer break the teacher's emails have been provided.
Supply List for 2024-25
Nipmuc does not publish a school-wide supply list for students. Unlike the elementary and middle schools where all students take the same courses, students at Nipmuc may take a variety of elective courses. As a result, supply needs may vary from student to student.
It is recommended that all students attend the first day of school with a notebook, pen/pencil, and folder. Teachers will share any class-specific supply requests during the first days of school.
