Happenings Around the School
Junior Achievement Real Life Summit
This week, we were thrilled to welcome Junior Achievement to our school as they hosted a Real Life Summit for all current juniors. Throughout the day, students engaged in interactive workshops centered on financial literacy and career readiness. From budgeting basics to exploring future career paths, out students gained valuable real-world skills to help them plan for life beyond high school. We're grateful to Junior Achievement as well as teachers and volunteers for providing such and impactful experience!
Construction: Hand and Power Tool students applied their skills in making Porch Swings. They use a variety of hand tools such as a combination square for layout and block planes for shaping, along with a variety of power tools such as an impact driver, wireless router and circular saw. The porch swings were one of the major projects to show off student’s abilities. Other units within the course focus on new tool technology, upcycling materials, and most importantly safety!
Mechanical Systems and Utility students spent an entire marking period learning residential/ commercial wiring. They have been trained in National Electric Codes, and NEMA codes for electrical installation. The students want to give a special shout out to district sponsor YoCo Electric LLC of York for the installation of shut offs, main power supply, and lock out tag out devices for each electrical training module. Congrats to Mason Treadaway and Jaczik Linden for job shadow with YoCo last month. Mason Treadaway, “The job shadowing experience has given me clear expectations toward my future as an electrician.” Jaczik Linden, “I definitely want to be an electrician after having the Mechanical Utilities class and job shadowing with Yoco Electric.” Juniors have met with the local IEC (Independent Electrical Contractors) and plan to enroll in their pre-apprenticeship training during their senior year. Congrats guys on your hard work! The next major unit to end the year is Plumbing.
Students in Exploring Construction Safety are finalizing their OSHA 30 hour training. This course focuses on Focus Four Hazards (falls, caught in and between, struck by, and electrocution hazards) fire safety, material logistics, hand and power tools, scaffolds, and many other areas of industry. In the photos you can see they went through the importance of proper PPE. Proper Personal Protective Equipment is required in all areas of industry today. If students want a course that provides them with an industry recognized training card to carry with them as well as career readiness, Exploring Construction Safety and Operations class is for you.
Future Business Leaders of America
Five students traveled to Hershey this week to represent RL at the Future Business Leaders of America state competition and leadership conference. The JATC cadets had an amazing day at the Air National Guard Career Fair held on base in Middletown. Cadets learned about the different career opportuntities that the military can provide while paying for college and serving our country.

Pawsitive Pal
This week's Pawsitive Pal is Mrs. Erica Main!
Mrs. Main serves as the Social Studies Department Chair and teaches AP U.S. History, Honors American History, Anthropology, and the very popular Ancient Cultures course—which she personally wrote the curriculum for.
Her students consistently commend her not only for her caring and warm personality but also for her energetic and creative teaching style. Mrs. Main is constantly developing engaging activities that help students apply historical content to real-world scenarios—from building pyramids with marshmallows to digging through sand on an archaeological mission, to debating and role-playing major historical decisions like the dropping of the atomic bomb.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Main represents her colleagues on several committees, including the Professional Growth Team, P.R.I.D.E., and the Curriculum and Grading Committees. She has been invaluable to the P.R.I.D.E. team, helping to develop essential lessons for Academic Prep and school-wide events like the Big Chill.
Mrs. Main also co-advised the Mock Trial team, which competed twice at the York County Courthouse.
Honestly, Mrs. Main could be recognized as Pawsitive Pal every week for her commitment to Red Lion and her unwavering support of her students. Thank you, Mrs. Main, for everything you do!
MiniTHON
Mini-THON would like to thank the 332 dancers that participated during the night of event last weekend. Thank you to the family and community members who sponsored those dancers. Together we raised $40,001.35 to give to the 4 Diamonds Foundation. This brings the 19 year total to $699,060.98. We appreciate and thank our business sponsors: Lion's Country Graphics, Red Lion Education Foundation, Thornton Chrysler Dodge, Highmark, Ray's Pit Beef, Shear Heaven Alpaca Farm, Red Lion Lion's Club, Miller's Plant Farm, and Recon Construction Services. The event would not have been a success without the donations of supplies and time from the Red Lion School District Staff. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH! Be on the look out for next years 20th Annual Event!
On Thursday, Mini-THON Committee had a party to celebrate all of the hard work and passion that went into this year's Mini-THON, raising $40,000 for the kids, and especially for Teddy! Teddy couldn't make the night of event, but was able to come in for the party! He loved giving high fives and hugs!
