Creekside Elementary
Parents, Teachers, Students, Community
December 8, 2024
Hello Creekside Families! This is Dana Rhinehart with a few announcements.
The holiday season is here and we love the excitement in the air. Please remind your children that we still have important work to do at school. We expect excellent behavior at school and on buses.
We are finishing up DIBELS mid-year testing. We are also taking the practice ACAP (Alabama Comprehensive Achievement Program) testing this week. For those new to our school, the ACAP is our state assessment. The practice test provides us with valuable information about which standards we need to focus on with our classes and individual students after Christmas before we test in April. We still have lots of learning to do before the holiday break, so let's keep up the great work!
There is lots of sickness affecting our community right now. Yes, we strive for great attendance, but we don't want your child at school if he/she is sick. Please remember to send in parent notes for illness or doctor notes if your child visits a doctor. These must be turned in within 3 days of the student returning to school.
It's going to be a GREAT week at the Creek!

Hello Creekside Families!
Please remember to purchase your tickets for our Thanksgiving lunch by Nov. 7th.
Our Square 1 Art fundraiser has officially started! Square 1 Art is our annual art fundraiser that allows students’s artwork to be purchased printed on all kinds of gifts and keepsakes. Your child received an order form that included an example image of the art they created this year, 5 free stickers, and instructions on how to order these gifts online. This fundraiser helps raise money to purchase new and exciting art supplies for students to use every week in art class. Plus, the class that raises the most money will earn a neon art party!
For more information about this fundraiser, please contact our art teacher Ms. Rogers, or go to square1art.com. The order deadline is November 15th. Thank you for supporting our artists!

● Appropriate dress for students must be worn that does not reveal the body in an inappropriate manner, e.g., clothing must not be too tight, bare at the midriff or sides.
● Shorts, skirts, and dresses too short in length are not allowed. A general guide to length is that the item should fall below the tips of the fingers when arms are fully extended to the side; however, due to physical differences in some students, this guide may mean some items are still too short. The entire hemline of athletic-cut shorts should fall below the fingertips.
● Leggings, jeggings, and yoga pants must be covered by garments that fall to mid-thigh and are an appropriate length for the wearer as described above and as determined by the Principal
● Pants or shorts worn below the waistline or those that display what is or appears to be an undergarment are not allowed. No pajamas.
● Pants should not be oversized, too tight, sagging, or revealing. Pants legs must be worn at the same length.
● Undergarments or undergarment areas are not to be exposed at any time.
Shirts, Blouses, and Tops
● Shirts or tops must cover the stomach, back area, and chest area completely at all times.
● A student’s attire must cover all undergarments or undergarment areas.
● Strapless, off the shoulder tops, spaghetti straps, tops with strap areas less than three inches wide, and sheer or see-through clothing are not allowed.
● Tops with large arm holes or cutout sleeves are not allowed.
● Clothing must not include pictures, writings, symbols, etc., promoting, acknowledging, or suggesting drugs, tobacco products, alcohol, sexual activities, gangs, groups, individuals, or activities that would be considered potentially dangerous, disruptive, or hazardous to the student, to other students, or to the school environment.
Field Trips: We have several field trips coming up. 3rd and 5th grades will be attending the Storytelling Festival on Tuesday.

Instructions may be found at www.lcsk12.org. Click on menu, human resources, and volunteering. You will need to complete the application and the background check.

First of all, THANK YOU for another successful Boosterthon! We are about $1,400 from our goal. You can continue to make donations this week and we're hoping that by tomorrow we will exceed out goal! Most of all, I think students had a great week of fun and learning.

Health Hero Student Flu Shots Sept. 19
Student Flu Shots - Sept. 19th
Health Hero will be coming to Creekside to administer student flu shots on Thursday, September 19th. Consent forms should be coming home with students this week. Please return a completed and signed consent form no later than Friday, September 13th if you would like for your child to be vaccinated. If you do not wish to have your child vaccinated, simply do not return the form. If your child has PEEHIP insurance and you wish for them to have the flu shot at school, they will have to wait until the health department comes to administer flu shots for the faculty on October 29th. Contact Nurse Lacey for more information on that or with any other questions about the flu shot clinic.

Hello Creekside Families! Teachers have spent the last couple of weeks getting to know students and building relationships with them. I've seen lots of fun activities as I've visited classrooms. They've completed some review from last year and are finishing up beginning of the year iReady assessments in reading and math. DIBELS beginning of year testing is underway for 3rd graders too. iReady will create each student individual pathways in reading and math to help close those gaps in learning.
Mrs. Brooks, Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Thiery, classroom teachers, and I will be looking at the results from these assessments and last year's information to make sure every student is getting what they need to excel this year. Whether it is remediation or enrichment, our goal is that each student reaches their full potential.
Remember to apply for free/reduced lunch. Also, monitor your child's balance. The ala carte price list is below. Those items can add up quickly.
Our Extended Day program is open and ready for your children to attend. We will be rotating stations when we get everyone settled in so that students will have different learning and play opportunities each day. Extended day is open from 2:40-5:40 each day.
Boosterthon Registration is open! The date of the Fun Run is Sept. 6th.
Grandparents Week is September 9-13. 4th grade parents may join us on Sept. 11. 3rd and 5th grade parents may join us on Sept. 12. Check with classroom teachers for specific lunch times.
It's going to be a GREAT week at the CREEK!

Hello Creekside Families!
This is Dana Rhinehart, principal of CES, with a few announcements. The first few days of school were wonderful! We loved seeing everyone so excited about another school year. Unfortunately, Covid took me out on Wednesday and I have been home recovering, along with several students and staff I'm told.
Our Extended Day program is open and ready for your children to attend. We will be rotating stations when we get everyone settled in so that students will have different learning and play opportunities each day.
Our first PTO meeting of the year is Tuesday night, August 13th at 6:00 p.m. Please join us as we kick off another great year of partnering together to make Creekside an outstanding school for our kids! Speaking of PTO, our biggest fundraiser of the year is beginning. Registration opens Wednesday, August 14th. This is HUGE! Proceeds from Boosterthon will help us with school improvements and projects.
Thank you for your patience with our new car and bus lines.
For lunch this week... (see menu below).
We look forward to another great week at CES!

Welcome Back! We had a FANTASTIC first day! Teachers worked hard to get their rooms ready to create a community of learners in each class. Thank you for entrusting us with your children. They will be well-loved, cared for, and challenged to learn this year.
We had every student in the building by 7:42 on the first day of school. That is AWESOME! That tells us that we WILL be able to meet our goal of having car line end by 7:30.
Carline... PLEASE be patient. For those who are complaining about carline after the first day of school, please give me a moment to explain a few things.
- SROs (School Resource Officers) are no longer allowed to direct traffic. This decision was made above the school level and we must abide by it. This is no reflection on the new SRO.
- Limestone County Sheriff's Depart. does not have the manpower to direct traffic.
- This is also the reason for only right turns as cars exit.
- Yes, there are 2 lanes that enter from the new access road.
- One of those lanes was designated for buses.
- We only have one exit and one lane for students to safely exit vehicles, so having one lane entering into campus makes it easier to manage.
- We may have to open the second lane to get traffic off Sanderson Rd., but parents must follow car line procedures if we do this.
- On Friday afternoon, some parents were merging/jumping from one lane to the other and moving the cones that coaches placed so they would know which cars were next.
- This created a lot of confusion. Numbers are texted to teachers inside the gym so students are ready to load. When parents jumped lines, their kids numbers had not been called and it created a chaotic situation.
- PLEASE give us a few days to get car line running smoothly.
- Lots of parents bring their kids to school during the first few days and then they will begin riding the bus.
- Teachers and coaches work carline and I can assure you, they want carline to be finished as quickly as you do. But we also have to be SAFE.
If there is any parent with experience directing traffic that would like to become an official volunteer to direct traffic at Creekside, please contact Mrs. Rhinehart and let her know.
Again, we are so happy to have your children at Creekside Elementary this year.
