Freshman Matthew Gluhareff shot a 73 (one over par) at the Sub-Region tournament at Blacksburg Country Club on October 1. The course was extremely wet, making conditions difficult for all participants. Matt made par on 17 of 18 holes, with his only blemish on the card being a bogey at hole #12. His 73 put him in a 3-way tie for the last two individual spots in the region tournament. The three golfers played in a sudden-death playoff format to decide who would advance. Matt made birdie on the first playoff hole to advance to the Region Tournament scheduled for October 7 at Shenandoah Valley Golf Club.
