A BIG thank you to all of our Bison families for supporting our Terry Fox Run. Our school raised $305.00 to help support cancer research and sent prayers of healing for all those families who have been affected by cancer.

Safety Drills
As part of our Safe and Caring School protocols, we have been busy reviewing and practicing a number of safety drills with our students - fire drills, hold-and-secure, lockdown, and shelter-in-place. They have been doing an amazing job learning our procedures.
School Council & Friends of SKTA
We invite ALL PARENTS AND GUARDIANS to come on out and get involved with our School Council. We have such a great group of engaged parents. School Council & Friends of SKTA are both wonderful ways for parents & guardians to get involved and support our school and it's initiatives. All parents & guardians with children registered at SKTA are welcome to join!
Participating in School Council allows individuals to share their voice and their talents with the school community and serve our students. Any families who would like to review the Agenda's and Minutes can access them on our SKTA website (CLICK HERE) Join a Great Community of Parents/Guardians on our ST. KATERI ACADEMY PARENTS facebook page!
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing parents and guardians who stepped up to take on leadership roles this year in our Parent Council and Friends of SKTA! We appreciate your commitment and time in helping shape SKTA in such a positive way. We are glad to have you on board!

When your child has a "Bad Day"
Bad days happen, and when your child has a hard day, you might see their unhappiness as a problem and believe it is your responsibility to fix it. The truth is, all feelings are healthy for children to experience - even the unpleasant or the tough-to-have ones. Our role is to help them feel supported through that emotion and remind them that they are not alone.
These reminders can sound like:
Today is not forever.
I’m here.
It’s okay to not feel okay.
Here are some “Things to tell your child when they are having a bad day.” from Big Life Journal to help when those bad days happen.
Growing in the Trinity: Love, Mercy & Grace
Our Divisional 3 year faith theme is: Growing in the Trinity: Love, Mercy & Grace. Moving into our second year, we will be focusing on "Growing in Mercy, with the Son". As we seek to animate this theme throughout the year we will be sharing with our students an understanding of the undeniable mercy we receive from Jesus Christ and how we are meant to grant this same mercy to others.
As we move into a new school year we pray for God's blessing on all our students and families, may we all seek to build the Kingdom of heaven, here on earth at St. Kateri Academy. We invite all families to keep our school and school community in your prayers throughout this school year!
As members of the St. Jean Baptiste community, we have also included a link to our parish website for families to easily access. LINK HERE
Information for Families
As we enter a new school year, we would like to remind families of a few items to help ensure a successful year.
Pick Up & Drop Off
- For those families driving to school we ask that the drop - off lane be for 'quick' drop off's and pick ups.
- If you are choosing to walk your child(ren) to their specific doors, please park in the parking lot and NOT in the drop off lane.
- For those parents parking across the road from the school, please DO NOT park in the roundabout as our buses need to turn in this area to come into our pick-up zone.
- Parents/Guardians are asked to remain outside of the school when dropping off and picking up students.
- If your child normally travels on the bus, Please let your child's teacher know if they will NOT be riding the bus home so our busses are not waiting at the end of the day.
- Parents/Guardians who require assistance at the office are to 'ring' the door bell at the front and enter by the closest door to the bell. Then come directly to the school office for assistance.
- Parents/Guardians wishing to volunteer with the school are required to fill out annually our 'Volunteer Form' which can be obtained from the office.
- Parents/Guardians who need to contact their child(ren) are to call the school and we will notify the student(s).
- Parents/Guardians wishing to meet with administration or staff may reach out via email or call to make an appointment during office hours.
- Regular communication is key for all school stakeholders.
- If you require information or clarification please reach out to your child(ren)'s teachers via email or you may call and leave a message for them at the office.
- If you require assistance from the administration please feel free to communicate via email or call the school office directly.
- Please remember our children are always watching us and we expect our parents and guardians to be co-teachers with us, teaching them appropriate community relations by treating everyone with respect, compassion and kindness.
Safety
- As part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students and staff, we would like to inform you that video monitoring and/or audio recording may be used on school property, including school buses. For more information please access our Administrative Procedure 165 on our division website linked HERE
